Star next to tuning part?

What does it mean? I'm customizing my first W900 and in the gearbox it has a star next to the Allison 6-speed when all others are unlocked.

The star indicates a "new" part available in the list. Although I've seen the stars persist for a delivery or two after being added after a level-up.

it means it's a new option that has just been unlocked.

For me they persist until the next level up that unlocks something. I am level 26 now and still have the unlocks from level 24 with stars because those are the last unlocks.

Gonna have to try this and see, but I wonder if the star persists until one of two things happens:

1) You click on the part to inspect/enable it, or

2) The next level-up adds another set of "new" parts.

I do that every time I go into the upgrade shop. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

Scratch that. I just went to the upgrade shop again (for an engine mod) and the stars were gone.
