You need to get your truck in the right spot, then a window should pop up telling you to cut the engine. With engine off, you can press enter to sleep.

Some rest areas are more finicky than others as to your truck placement.

In a rest area hit E to stop top the engine then ENTER or the button for actions.

It's pretty simple. All you need to do is find a place with the bed icon, park your truck, turn off the engine and finally press enter to sleep.

Im sure this was already asked but why cant you use the sleeper (DUH!!).

I've noticed that in the dirt lots you can just cut your engine and go to sleep anywhere. In some of the more established rest areas you have to pull into a parking spot that is marked on the ground. They will look like regular parking areas that cars use but they are much larger. Sometimes there are also single parking areas near curbs.

You're using it, you always sleep in your truck

just have to find the proper spot for the truck on some lots, then you get a message saying turn off engine and press enter to sleep
do not reverse into the big truck parking spots by fuel stations or you won't get that message prompt

I must be getting verticle sleep (I run the W900 Day Cab).
It'd be nice if a sleeper cab actually had functionality. Say, instead of 10 hours of restless sleep in a day cab, the sleeper lets you sleep more soundly, shortening the required sleep to 8 hours.

He was asking why not be able to pull over anywhere and sleep. The answer, afaik, is it's illegal here in America to just pull over on the shoulder and sleep in your vehicle. It's a safety hazard, and the shoulder is reserved for mechanical emergency scenarios (flat tire, busted timing belt, etc.), as well as a lane for emergency, county, and construction vehicles such as ambulances, survey trucks, and cherrypicker trucks, for example.

Yeah, I think it's technically illegal in certain areas, like freeways. Mostly because freeways have rest stops with parking available for truckers to park and rest.
Highways rarely have rest stops and when they do they usually can't accomodate truck/trailer parking. I've seen plenty parked on teh side of these roads far from cities here in Oregon. Especially HWY 26 going over Mt Hood.
the game tells you what to do... in big letters...

YES! Please! I can't believe the cabin "upgrades" only "upgrade" the appearance of the truck.

Here in MO I see semis parked on the offramps of I-44 quite regularly around 2am. Of course these are mostly out in the country a good bit. Perhaps the police turn a blind eye to it??

In CA you can pull over off the freeway/highway/interstate and take a snooze, however the CHP do have a tendency to come banging on your windows/doors with their flashlight asking what you are doing there. You tell them you are napping, and they tell you that you may as well move along as another CHP will be following up and another and another until you move even though you ARE legally parked off on a side road off the highway.

At least that's what happened to me multiple times
