Notepad to SCS File
Does anyone know how to change/stop my computer from changing the SCS files to notepad?

If it is changing the extension when you download it, you can change the extension back to .scs by using the 'Rename' function in Explorer. Right Click -> Rename, but it is simpler just to give it the .scs extension when asked where to save it.

The bigger question is why it is being changed in the first place.

It's easy to accidentally associate files to an unwanted program: Double-click the file > Choose Notepad > Leave "Always use this program to open .scs files" checked.

According to this[social.technet.microsoft.com] however, it seems you need to edit the Registry to remove the association for anything later than Vista.

Might be easier to associate the files with another, more suitable program like 7-zip or WinRAR. To do that, Right-click the file > Open With.. > Choose 7-zip/WinRAR etc > Tick "Always use this program.." > Click OK.

What the OP is saying is that the extension is being changed before the file is downloaded.
And that's odd.

If you use any AntiVirus software, make sure the .scs extension is "allowed". The AV creeps might be wanting to change the extension because it doesn't know what an .scs file is.
In fact, depending on the .scs file itself, it may well be a text file because some scs files contain scripts (.sii and .sui files) and they are text files.

Yup but, the scs file is already notepad thats the problem, I am not trying open it or anything so I don't know why it's doing that.

I still feel like the issue is the file icon is changing unexpectedly to a Notepad one after extraction into Explorer - ie, a bad file association. Can you post a screen of the problem in your WIndows folder, Zero?
