I know this is a simulator game and youre supposede to use a wheel... but is there anyway you can use an xbox 360 controller with it being enjoyable?

i use a xbox one contoller plugged into the PC and have all the keys mapped to it. its enjoyable to me. i dont have a wheel and i play other driving games on PC and xbox. i have no problem at all. if the wheels/pedals were cheaper i would get one but i cant seem to find one that is cheaper. so the controller is the way to go for me. but i also like using the keyboard/mouse

Yup, you will be fine with a controller.
Ive never been a fan of the wheels.

The thing is that it says "partial controller support". So does that mean that some of it will be Keyboard and Mouse?

Well, you only have so many buttons on a controller, so some things are going to be keyboard anyway. But anything barring a few exceptions can be bound to any button/trigger/stick, etc. on the controller.

I manage just fine with the xbox 360 wired controller (Mac OSX) Works well with a laptop setup as I have no room for a wheel setup. I can access most used functions via the controller and it's probably easier to keep a lookout with head movement on the right stick than just using a wheel setup (without a trackir or something). Partial support? Well I still use the mouse for all menu navigation and there are way too many controls to map everything to the controller.

100% of my entire playtime with ETS2 and ATs has been with a controller. it's very playable. Sure a wheel would be nice but I don't have the money to drop on a wheel. Not even that bothered by it -- it handles great

The only reason I bought an actual ''expensive'' wheel (G27) was because of the 18speed transmission realism they included in the game. Since i'm a real life trucker, I find quite enjoyable to drive a truck in a game with an actual fonctionnal 18speed with an H-Shifter.

I played (still play) Farming Simulator 2015 with only a Keyboard and a mouse. Never felt the need to grab a wheel for that game so rest assured, you won't be judged if you take pleasure with a controller for this game.

Xbox 260 wired controller and works great, Wife faction would go mega negative if I buy one more controller, flight stick or wheel. So stuck with Xbox and its rather good :)
I use a Thrustmaster GPX Xbox 360 controller, and it works like a charm for me. Backing up is difficult, and if you're a perfectionist, a wheel is definitely easier. Other than that, the controller is perfect.

That was my reason for getting a G27...I've always wanted to try to get my head around a Roadranger ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and for now, this is probably the closest I'm going to get to one.

I have a wheel and 360 controller and end up using the controller much more probably because I'm a lazy trucker :P

One thing I found funny while watching ETS2 videos on YouTube was the fact that people with a wheel and no Track IR would have to take their right hand off from the shifter to the mouse, to be able to look around with it.

Whereas I play ETS2 (and soon ATS) with an Xbox360 controller, and only take my hands off the controller to press E for engine start/stop, and T for trailer.

Lol. This is why I use an Xbox 360 controller as well.

If I buy a wheel, I would need to buy Track IR (or an equivalent) as well.

That would be expensive considering the game controls absolutely fine with a controller.
I've a wheel and played alot of driving sim games (iracing, assetto, dirt rally), but I don't use wheel with ATS, infact I even use simple mode controls with steam controller as I play ATS more for relaxation than realism, and controller works perfectly fine.

It depends what you want to get out of the game in terms of realism, but the game is definitely 100% viable with a controller.

I got a XBOX 360 for my MAC but ATS does not "see it".
I see tried drivers at github but still no go.
How can I do this?
