camera for turning when using wheel. any advice?
I have trouble driving wheel on this game because of the fact that moving the mouse view and turning the wheel at the same time isn't easy.

especially since you need to check left/right/left/right a ton of times. you know what i mean

I have tried several things. I mapped the look left/ right to my wheel pad on G25 but this doesn't help much. too inaccurate and slow. I also enabled the automatic turn with wheel in game. but again this doesnt help much for checking before turning at lights.

i used to have track-ir and this made me sick. i think the only other option is using tripple monitors or driving with mouse and keyboard. (much easier)

thanks for any tips if you can think of something i missed.

I have the same problem, i just use the mouse to check my sides, then use the directional pas on my wheel to snap the veiw back to center and go since i know its safe.

dang. well at least you know what the problem is and having the same issue.

its hard for me to use mouse when my wheel is mounted like you suggest because my shifter sits right in front of my mouse area. so i have to essentially reach over/ around it to touch my mouse. very inconvenient lol.

I installed FOV mod to have 90 degress FOV, now I need my mouse only to check left and right for approaching vehicles at the intersection

yes this is an option for wider view but at a cost. the more you increase the FOV number. the less you can see straight ahead. this is really bad for racing games but i'm not sure about truck sim.

the best option would be 3 monitors with lower FOV on each one so you can get a realistic view like a cabin of the truck would be in real life.

Yup you can map the insta look interior left / right to the pad on your wheel so that you can quickly check the side mirrors when changing lanes. Additionally I mapped interior look forward and lean out the window to the pad.
I also use the camera turn while turning the wheel to better see where I'm going. This has been working for me quite well so far. I hate the camera turn with the blinkers so I turned that off.

I use 3 monitors and a FOV mod. It makes it where I only have to "turn my head" a little to look out. ATM I am using an xbox one pad using right analog to look. I have a wheel coming in the mail sometime next week. I'll be watching this thread to see any more advice.

Something like an arcade spinner (google it) may be the ticket here. The people that sell ArcadeVGA sell them. I think they have software that lets you configure how they are "seen" by your computer too.

Yes, narrow FOV is better in racing games (I play rally games), but in ATS I rarely go faster than 65-70 on straights, and I take turns while driving below 20 mph, no powersliding or drifting involved, so everything is cool

Damn thanks for pointing out the 'interior left/right' option! Before i had mapped the normal 'look left/right' and it turned slow so it didn't do the job. This option is great as it snaps the camera to the side, all you need is to map a third button (interior camera) to snap it back to the centre. All this combined with the wheel camera turn makes it perfect

You could try using the 4, 7, 8, 9, and 6 keys on your numpad. 5 also centers your view. I use it all the time and it works fine for me.

I just use my mouse to look around. Have the internal view keybound to LMB. I do reach across the wheel with an overhand grab to hit the shifter when pulling away from a sign until I get my view set right. Could definitely see this being irritating with an H shifter.

track ir gets me really dizzy. the face tracker one is even worse.
i had the real 150 dollar model that has zero lag and it still made me sick because every time you move your head around your body doesn't realize whats happening and it makes certain people motion sick,.

I use a Logitech G25 in combination with a Logitech Marble mouse (I am left handed so it sits to the left of my wheel, but doesn't need much room as the mouse itself doesn't move, just the marble). My keyboard sits to the left of the Mable mouse....

I have the G25 Gear shifter on my right and a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joy stick to the right of that.... This joystick has a twist option (rudder control in flight sims) that I use to turn my head (int view)..... and I use one of the Joystick buttons (thumb) to quickly center the view if needed.

So my desk is a bit full.... but it works ofr me.

There is another look left, look right buttons u can map out that doesn't slow turn, it just goes straight to the position.
