The 5 MPH over rule sometimes works and sometimes doesn't apparently.
I was making a delivery yesterday somewhere in CA and I was doing 60 in a 55. I passed a stationary cop car doing 60 and got no ticket, and then 5 minutes later a driving cop car passed me and then I got ticketed for speeding. So apparently there's an inconsistency between the moving cops and the ones who are sitting off to the side of the road.

58-59 works fine

55 works for me. I don't see any reason to test the limits. The risk of the ticket outweighs any benefit a few extra MPH may buy me.

I started doing 58 in a 55 yesterday and made it to my destination without issue.

I think it's +10%, though, not necessarily +5 MPH.

5mph over is NOT a rule...in ANY state.

Most cops will allow it, thats true.
But technicaly speaking if your going 2mph over the posted limit you can be pulled over and ticketed. The only reason its not 1mph over is to account for variances in speedometers.

Obviously. I'm simply pointing out that you can go 5 MPH over with the stationary cops but apparently not with the ones driving on the roads.

Chalk it up to the mood of the different police - just like real life? More "sim" like! :)

I always pass cops going in other direction going faster than the limit. I say "oh sh**" foot off the gas. I'm lucky I guess. The other day i passed acop doing 20kph + over. They don't generally give a f*** abput people speeding unless they are parked in a bush or something. Im teflon don i guess lol

I also believe that the game can tell if your accelerating or decelerating. I was coming up on a town doing 55, was about at 40 when I hit the town limit, the cop behind me didn't do anything while I was slowing down.

Well when this happened I had cruise control on so I wasn't accelerating myself. Maybe I was going up a hill and it accelerated but I myself was not.

Cops in the UK have ticketed people for 1-3 mph differences, only for said ticket to go to court, and get quashed because no speedometer is THAT accurate. It's simply a technical impossibility. Not sure what the U.S cops are like, but if they're anything like ours, it wouldn't surrpise me.

It mostly depends on the cop. Sometimes they use that just as an excuse to pull you over to check to make sure you have a valid license/registration/insurance. Sometimes they'll do it and give a warning because they saw you going faster but by the time they got the radar on you, it was down to 1-3!

That means nothing. It's probably a percentage thing.

Been ticketed for 4 over in ATS AND in real life. 59 in a 55 in ATS, 39 in a 35 in real life.

And about the difference between stationary and moving cops, I just assume the stationary ones are taking naps.
