I think every state is a dlc of its own. Arizona for example will be free and the next states may cost

Arizona will be for free (the creator said it). Other DLCs would be for money I think.

there is a demo you can download for ATS

I have over 500 hours on ETS2 and love it to bits. I've also bought ATS and love it to bits. They have a slightly different feel to them in my opinion. ATS has more urban driving than ETS2. Is it worth buying at £15...yes without a doubt.
When you consider the cost of other forms of entertainment and what you get out of it, £15 is relatively cheap.

Cinema tickets at around £7 for 2 hours of entertainment.

Football match at £27 for hopefully 90 minutes of entertainment (Nottingham Forest ;) )

Night out on the town £40+ nothing to show for it but an hangover.

ATS for £15 for, well for as long as you want to play it and with such a great modding community that could be forever.

Steve

The actual game also has Nevada and at some point will be getting Arizona for free.

I already have close to 30 hours into the game so for the $20 I paid it has given me great value.

As I understand it, the DLC will come in the form of expansion packs (each including multiple states), like how the ETS2 system worked. But we all gonna just pirate the DLC, because we spent $20 for 3 days of play. I'm pretty much done. I have the upgrade my house achievement left to go..Level 10 and I'm bored of the same roads already. Because SCS refuses to provide us with adequate content for our $$$$ (and also relies on ETS2MP to ban as many people as possible, so they will rebuy the game to play online again, this is the only reason SCS refuses to introduce multiplayer, according to my logical, mathematical, and highly profitable mind). Let them charge $20/state because there is no reason to support a developer who is refusing to provide the consumers with a game they want. Did any of you make a request for ETS2 except in america with only 2 states and 2 trucks that are exactly the damn same? No, SCS doesn't listen to it's fans.

The modding community brings up an interesting point. I do believe SCS is going to try and pull off selling user developed content to fill their game. I've never played a mod map that wasn't better than an SCS map...so what happens when projects like promods finish off teh continent (canada and mexico included) before SCS releases their first expansion pack?
You got 60 hours out of a $20 game and you feel ripped off enough to openly plan to pirate the DLC?

you have to appreciate that this type of simulator game should have much more replayability than your average AAA shooter. Much more. Would you have written the same response to someone who paid for world of warcraft? Of course you would not. Games like this need to be thought of in a slightly different mindset.

I don't know about all map mods being better than the base game, but I can tell you that the Hungary map mod, while being quite small is Miles better than what scs achieved with the same same map style of the ets2. I have hope that whoever is commited to making serious maps for this game will be... amazing. SCS has always held their own making maps but honestly they are somewhat dull. Modders FTW

Right? The last time $20 occupied me for 60 hours it was spent at a Taco Bell.
