Radio Livestreaming Setup Needs To Be Changed! I WANT TO LISTEN TO iHeartradio STATIONS!!!
I am sorry but the fact that you cannot get any real world US radio stations from sites like iHeartRadio and TuneIn is just sad. One my favorite local radio stations in St. Louis, 97.1 FM NewsTalk does not have an direct ip address to copy over nor does it have an mp3 sourse. Not only that but two other stations KSHE 95 (actual dial is 94.7 FM) and 103.3 KLOU also do not have direct ip addresses or mp3 sourses. There is no point in actaully in driving around unless you have (in my opinion) commercial radio. And to not be able to stream local radio stations and only having the crappy in-game stations is just sad. My last resort if this isn't fix is to add my favorite show's podcast, and I don't want to do that.

All you have to do is go to there website ( which I did to confirm for 97.1 St. Louis ) and click on " listen live " and let it play while your in the game. I do it all the time. Simple to do.

I am aware that I can do that. It's just that alt-tabing out of the game to do that can most likely lead to a crash. It's happened a few times before on games like Fallout 4 and I really don't want to risk lossing all that progress.

What about launching the radio FIRST; then jumping into the game?

I have never had an issue Alt tabbing out of ETS or ATS. I always fire up Spotify or podcasts in the background while I play.

Like I mentioned at the start of the discussion, there are three St. Louis Radio Stations that I listen to: 97.1 FM NewsTalk between 3 PM to 7 PM (Central Time), 103.3 KLOU, and 94.7 KSHE 95. To activly switch between them I would either need to run the game in windowed mode or use alt-tab.

So far only Fallout 4 has been crashing using the alt-tab method. So I am not sure about ATS. I will give it a shot and see how it goes

I've personally alt-tabbed a lot with this game. Never had an issue.

But even if you do...I wonder; could you try using the Steam overlay browser? That shoudl work, provided it doesnt'cut out totally whenever the overlay isn't active.

Its not the game problem that some radiostatins dont give us direct stream link, its their decision to keep you visiting their website.

I think they just need to change the way they have these streams. It shouldn't be this hard. Not to mention that some people aren't very tech savvy and don't want to go through the trouble of changing the code of a .sii file 🤷‍♂️

You may have a point, but that was one heck of a necro

i agree, but also, you could just get an actual radio and then like, its super immersive because then youre listening to an actual external radio with a tuner, like you would in a truck.

If I had a Steering wheel etc, I thought Id add a dashboard stereo, and just play music through some external speakers with my fave radio statios, like get a tape pansonic.

That sounds like an excellent idea. I think it would be cool if there was some sort of software tuner for people who are just looking to play the game and not have a giant sim rig.

That what you most likely are searching for is called a Media Player in which you could use playlist, add the Radio stations in it (if they provide external playlist) and could switch between the entries with a key on your keyboard.
