interesting
Only thing I changed on my keyboard and mouse keybindings was I put the blinkers on my side mouse buttons and cruise control up/down to the mousewheel for quicker access.
I got me one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PC-Wireless-Gaming-Controller-USB-Receiver-Adapter-For-Microsoft-XBOX-360-LK-/331424442087?hash=item4d2a6fa6e7:g:GaAAAOSw6aVUmqZF
Plug it in, do not install the driver that comes with it. Download the official microsoft driver, install it and use the device manager to point the adapter to the microsoft driver. After that it'll work just like the official ones.
With mouse steering, you've got the next best thing to a wheel, and with the keyboard, you've got all your buttons right there.
I'd imagine playing with a wheel and pedals would be fun, haven't done it myself but I'd make sure there are a lot of buttons to map for you different views and so on.
Can have 138 inputs mapped at a given time via mod-keys.
Plus you can set the leftpad up for mouse input rather than thumbstick input....MUCH more percise for game like this.
Also as someone mentioned prior there are plenty of great wheel/pedal combos aside from the G27. You can get a decent wheel for $100-150 if ya look around. Granted you wont get a high-end setup for that price, but certainly one thats more than fit for purpose when it comes to trucking.
For ATS I decided to try my cheap Logitech game controller. It is much better in my opinion.
A wheel is obviously the most realistic, but to be honest I bought myself a G27 about 6 months ago and ended up returning it. I had troubles keeping the shifter from sliding all around when playing and the hassle of setting it up and then unhooking it became a pain when you jump between games often.
