Brake warning light bug?
Occasionally when driving my Peterbuilt around, I get the following warning light on the dash: http://imgur.com/sUtMjql (The orange circle)

I beleive that it's the brake warning light. My truck then slows to a crawl, with a max speed of 15/16, even downhil.

Any ideas?

Do you have your handbrake off?
DRodders Feb 5, 2016 @ 1:49pm
Yeah. The parking brake symbol is to the left of the brake warning light. It looks similar, but has a P in the middle.

Is your truck damaged? I crashed earlier and ended up with 69% damage and my truck starting doing all kinds of random and weird things until I delivered my cargo and limped to a service station.

Have you accidently turned the retarder on?

I think I've seen this. It's like the retarder light. Put it in cruise controll for a few that somtimes clears it.

Maybe the air tank is empty because you only use the brake pedal instead of engine brake. Or like said before Retarder. Look into you control settings you should be able to find if there is a button mapped to the retarder.

It is indeed the retarder light. Either turn automatic retarder off, or simply lower the retarder level with the correct keybind.

Funny, I'm playing with the retarder on my Kenworth and I'm not seeing the light turn on.

I can't remember what default key the retarder is; I think it's (,) but people have been known to hit it accidently.

Is it low air pressure? I know in Army vehicles, the pressure releases the brakes, so if you lose pressure, the brakes lock up.

this is due to the fact that you have your cruise control set to a speed lower than your current speed. even if you press the throttle it will try to reduce the speed. just press "c" to turn off CC. Also you may want to cycle "i" till your dash displays your current speed and CC setting.

I think it's issue of the retarder controlled by cruise control, I've met with the same problem. It's appears usually when cruise control use retarder to decrease your speed and at the same time you are using standard brake (usually at low speed). Normally retarder shouldn't be used by CC (braking or accelarating by pedals turn CC off automatically), but it's seems like to be blocked.

Every time when I notice this issue I tap ; key and ' (or whatever you have binded to tweaking ret.). For me It's works fine, but this problem is little bit annoyin'

(sry for my english)

The answer about the retarder is correct. Its either from cruise slowing you down or you hit the ; by mistake. ' lowers it.
there is a bug that occasionally puts the retarder on ... pressing "retarder up" followed by"retarder down" tends to fix this...
