Alaska Map for Future
Does Anyone know if they ever gave any info on Alaska Being a Possible State to be added? I would love to drive and have to obtain a permit or something similar to go through Canada. deliver up there and do ice road trucking.

Possible special edition feature.. but first they need to add a few more states for longer driving periods.

I expect it to be one of the last things officially added, if it ever is.

If I would be working at SCS, I would do the continental US, then do Canada, and only then I would add Alaska, to maintain a map continuity.

You have to go through B.C first to get there. So I would hope they will ad B.C then Alaska.

would love to see ice road trucking in this game, but so far it seems only moders will deliver

They don't have to map British Columbia in order to add Alaska. They can do just highway across BC with closed exits or without them altoghether, just add signs 'Welcome to Canada" and "Welcome ot Alaska" about a minute apart.

They call the haul road that goes north to Prudhoe Bay an "ice road" but it really isn't. It's just a road that gets snow in the winter. A proper "ice road" like they have in Canada is one that is made across frozen lakes and swamps when the ice gets thick enough, and for a lot of isolated places, winter is the only time trucks can get into them. I believe there are a few places in Alaska where they make roads across frozen water in the winter, but the haul road isn't one of them. It can be driven in summer for crying out loud. You can even see it on google streetview.

Yeah that's what i was talking about. I think that would be pretty cool. Idk if their game engine would actually support the mechanics of losing control on the ice tho. and not really having solid traction on it all together.

They'd be missing out on some cool trucking stuff if they skipped over BC. Jackass Mtn in the canyon. Rodgers Pass, etc.

BTW BC is actually bigger than Texas, but don't tell the Texans that. :-)

They do take barges to Alaska, as that is how most of the products arive there. They could implement that, where the semi is barged from the ferry in Seattle to somewhere near Anchorage (I don't quite remeber where exactly), or the trailer is barged and you have to truck through Canada (but that's missing the point). Driving through Canada is beautiful, especially going through Dawson, but I doubt that would be implemented as this is for the United States and not North America, which would be a great expansion or series to add to their product line.

Totally agree, but since they do American Truck Simulator and seem to concentrate on the United States (although Canada and Mexico are also America), some compromises can be made. I would, however, prefer them to map British Columbia and Yukon in full (to game's scale of course) together with Alaska, if they chose to do Alaska

Odds are when/if it gets added it will be in ATS 2, much like how ETS had only 12 drivable countries in is while ETS 2 (with DLC) added 7 more to make it 19... Odds are the states they add into ATS will be of the contenital US, and then ATS2 might include things like parts of Canada, Alaska, and Mexico if ATS sells well enough for them to make a sequel.

I mean that is just my guess, but seeing as these are the same guys that did ETS and ETS2 there is a good chance that the first game will be the core structure and they will release a second to be more of a DLC platform with more areas, which as long as the map DLCs are a fair price I wouldn't mind to much because atleast its not a $60 game then trying to sell you maps... While the DLC for ETS2 is $73 lots of that is paint jobs, and the two map pack add up to only $31 of that, so if you bought the base game and just the maps it would run you $53, and thats if you bought each peice seperate... ETS+ all its DLC including skins as a "Duluxe bundle" is $50 which included ETS2 + all DLC, ETS, Bus Driver, Scania TDS, and Trucks and Trailers
