And because McDonalds doesn't know the game exists/doesn't care.
Any who, cuz of copyright.. You need licenses for everything. Hence there's only 2 trucks so far.. More trucks will come once they finalize it.. Now idk if these companies would charge to let someone make a game, but i'd not give a sh if the truck I was driving was called .. Porterbilt...
Arpone, some companies/ or most worry bout their brand image and pay big money for all the consultin firms and pr firms before they do anything to see how the public would react to a product.. They pay tons of money to plug in their sht into movies, thats why your lead actor drives a Mercury and camera pans around the car really slowly..
Its really not just about free advertising, its about the rights to even use the logo in the first place. Copyright law is very convoluted and sometimes outright ridiculous in some cases, but that's the way it is.
The rest you can Google for.
There should be a "special" Law for Simulation games only then, because they present the real world and with that I mean, when a McDonald's is on the same location ingame as in real life, the whole building inclusive all Logo's and symbols should be used, just as I can see in real life on that same location!
With other words, they don't want free advertisement..
As the game is about driving trucks, not so much as the businesses themselves, trucks and trailers should come first. This isn't some AAA title like Need For Speed where you do regularly see a real brand for a business in there, but rather the subtle driving that is an 18 wheeler on American roads.
