Road Designation
Maybe one of our fellow Users from the USA can help me. The roads have signs in different colors (blue, green and white). What does that mean?

Green is standard. I've seen certain municipalities elect to use blue or red, but I don't think it means anything. In Beverly Hills they have shiny fake diamond encrusted street name signs.

Green are guidence, blue is for services, white is for notices - speed etc. Not sure but I think the colors mean something also as far as intra-state travel and interstates going through states.

Standardized colors are used on interstates and federal highways only. local street signs can be a variety of colors. On the major highways, Green is is for destination information, blue is for services, such as rest stops, white is for speed signs. Bright orange is for construction, yellow is for warnings. May not be in the game, but there are also brown ones, those are for tourist attractions.

Oops, my post was rather misleading. I meant, that the signs with the road numbers on the world map have different colors. And I would like to know what that means. I take it that blue are Interstates. And the others?

Yeah, blue are interstates. White are US highways (different from interstates) and the other symbol you see in Cali I think is for California highways. Strangely there doesn't seem to be any Nevada highways in the game. US highways are like interstates in that they keep their designated number when moving from state to state. State highways change numbers when they change states (if they go out of state at all).

To add on to the state highway signs. Those green guitar pic shaped signs are California state highway shields. While federal MUTCD recommends a circular shield to designate state routes, most states design thir own. Here's a picture of all the states and their highway shields: http://i.imgur.com/uuwBhMS.png
Even numbers are east - west. I-10...I-80...I-40
Odd are north - south. 101...57. Without the 'I' for Interstate.

And in Cali we refer to the freeways as, "The X"
"I'm heading to Fontana on the 10."

No, that's not exactly right. Interstates go in both cardinal directions. I-5, I-15, I-17 are N/S interstates. The other natinal highways with the white shields are US designated. Like the 101 is U.S. 101. Then state highways are designates with the state abreviation. Like CA 1, AZ 87.

Dude, it's 15:00 Thursday afternoon, and we gotta have you make a super-priority run from Torrance out to Redlands. Oh crud, looks like "the 91" is your only way. The 10, 60, and 210 are totally jacked! >;D

See you when you get back in 4+ hours!
