STEERING
does anyone have any idea why the steering would all of a sudden turn all the way lefft or right when u barely tap the key and the senseiablity is set less than half way it has done this on every setting i have tried. is it primarly set for use with a steering wheel?

I have mine set to minimum sensitivity. And it still instnatly goes way left or right with a little 1% tap on the thumbstick.
It only happens when going over about 30mph using a gamepad so it's speed related in my case.
And I set my deadzones correctly.

I basically have to adjust the settings in windows every time I get on a highway. Then change the sensitivity back for city driving.
That is rather pathetic.

Done with this game until that's fixed. Might just refund it.

Having same issue ... sensitivity allway right side helped partly and does that sudden lock just before reach the end of turning ... no clue yet, another thing ... again engine reving in full revs and can not bid brake pedal ... Ive tried reported combined pedals in Logitech profiler but without effect ... any ideas?

Make sure your controller type is set to gamepad/joystick guys. Also have steering autocenter enabled as well.

Definitely something wrong on your ends. All i did was set up the steering axis (haven't touched the deadzone or sensitivity), braking and accelarationa axis and it was good to go. Try reverting to defaults and just setting the things i did.

When I do that the turning goes all over the place on it's own. Because the deadzone is picking up small 1% signals for left and right turns. Mostly left in my case unless I tilt the controller to the right and the thumb stick tips over by a millimeter.

So even with that small 1% signal the truck starts fishtailing all over the place.
I have to put the deadzone up to prevent that. Problem is if I move it just a little it still takes it as a full hard turn.

I do have it setup for gamepad.

I'm having difficulty understanding you, but I think you're asking about a bug in the game where the retarder gets stuck on. You have to turn it on and back off again manually to unstick it.

I've managed to sort out problems above guys, so happily would like to share with u and hope it will helps u as well.

Sudden Steering lock
I have to say that i dont know which command line exactly it is but what i've done ive just copied files "config.cfg" and "controls.sii" from my ETS2 profile and paste them into ATS profile (path ... Documents>American Truck Simulator>Profiles>number of your profille) and that action solved "sudden lock" of steering

Reving engine without touching throttle and iddle break pedal
well - just reported combined pedals in your logitech profiller if you use logitech device

And thats it, realy hope it will be helpfull to others too :steamhappy:

actully what you need to adjust is in the options menu under controls. Steering Sensitivty which you knew and Steering Non-linearity. The Non-Linearity adjusts how fast the steering will turn left or right when either using the keyboard or using a wheel.

One the brake and gas pedel, try setting both the brake and gas axis individually. Go into options scroll to the gas pedal axis and select it, press your gas pedal. Then go to brake pedal axis and selet it, and then press your brake pedal. This should reconfigure the brake and gas properly. If not Im sorry.

No mate nothing from above ... That was first I've tried to do.... Sensitivy and non-linearity only moved that sudden lock bit further but did not solve the problem completely. Gas and break pedal did not respond at all not even available to select them... Fortunately sorted now ;)

Found a fix for the "steering lock". I'm excited cause it actually works. Here's a link to the mod/fix from SCS website: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BzoLz_IlKeP5WDNFNnE5QkFZdXc&usp=sharing

** Make sure you choose the right one. the first 3 from the left of the page is for ETS2. Be sure to choose the one all the way to the right of page - make sure it says it's for ATS.

I have tried this mod (and others like it). To me it makes the steering feel floaty. Like driving a hovercraft.
