Nights not dark enough since 1.49 update
Nights are too bright, even on moonless nights. The environment is illuminated by a white tint and I could drive with my headlights off if I want to.

i noticed they are lighter but in VR it looks awesome. its far more visually pleasing. pitch black nights are no fun. i deal with it all the time irl as a graveyard+morning shift trucker.

Seriously; I've actually started liking driving at night since the 1.49 beta, instead of regularly skipping time ahead by 'visiting' truck dealers between jobs.

I have to agree, nighttime driving is now enjoyable as opposed to driving into "The Black Hole of Calcuttta". Dawn and dusk as well, are at least to me, greatly improved. I'm not noticing any "white tint" at all.
Yeah, I'd much prefer this extra visibility over having none at all. I like being able to actually see the scenery I'm driving past, so now I don't need to constantly sleep through the night anymore to avoid the black hole of doom which my high beams barely made a dent in.

No, don't want driving too dark, unable to see anything outside of road, I do enjoy see star, or raining while see field get wet or tree moving from wind, I don't want see black dark not see anything like you sleep with eye closed, that would not be fun.
I do like to drive at night but if everything too dark not see anything but light on road, it's just not fun.

Personally I like the new ambient lighting and everything. I also tried the new opportunities provided by the automatic headlights and automatic high beam game options. After a while, however, I deselected them: first of all you have to turn on the headlights and/or the high beams anyway and only after the game will choose whether to switch from one to the other and the difference is only really noticeable if you are traveling with or without the high beams in certain areas and in some corners I would have preferred if they didn't keep turning on and off. I am happy with the old "manual" vehicle light management system but with the new ambient lighting.
In any case, I definitely like this new 1.49 update in every way. :104: :letsgo: :Mirro_love:
Furthermore, the repair system is "more realistic" and allows you to spend more money... which I have more than I need... but only in the game... if I could have it in reality I certainly wouldn't have any complaints. :steamhappy:

Before the update they were too dark and new they are too bright. As the old saying goes:
You can not please everyone.

I did not really notice any major difference the hour or so i played a few days ago....

And if the screen looks like it would have a white tint on it......i would check the brightness in the game....especially if you raised it in the past to make the nights less darker (aka never witnessed the real live after sunset) ;)

The nights are definite improvement and thank goodness for that. On the other hand, I think the days are darker, but maybe, it's just my imagination? Overall, though, the new lightning is way better and more realistic. I wonder, however, if they fixed tunnels. I'll probably not know until this update will get to ETS2, since we don't have many long tunnels in ATS, but I really hope they fixed that.

I'm curious, what exactly is wrong with tunnels? I can't sat I have seen a problem or noticed anybody commenting on tunnels in the forum.

The biggest problem with tunnels was that during day, it was too bright inside. Almost as if you simply ride in shadows. On top of that, you will not get that "blinding" feeling you should get while leaving tunnels IRL.

Edit: To be clear, that was before this update. Not sure how tunnels are in this update, since I didn't rode any yet.

The simple existence of this thread is a proof you can't make everyone happy at the same time. Some months ago, one of the biggest complaints was about TOO DARK nights. 😂

Well, at least they added something to make all these people happy at least half of the time: during Full Moon, the people complaining about darkness; during New Moon, the people complaining about brightness.

I for one miss the complete darkness, the new nights are nice, but i wish that some random days during a month would be as dark as it was.

Actually, a couple years ago I've started a topic on about how unrealisticaly bright tunnels actually are... TBO this was probably on ETS2 forum.
