Drivers returning empty
Can anything be done about drivers being unable to find a job and returning empty? Does it indicate a garage location problem or something like that?
Thank!

There is a base 10% chance that your hired drivers will return home empty. The chance could be higher if their home garage is far from other locations, or they're using a trailer with few load possibilities, or they are very low skilled.

I have the drivers just to train them up. I imagine that the more skilled they are, the less chance of them not being able to get a job. Having said that, I don't really care if they return home empty. I just like the management aspect to the game... I'll train them up and cycle them out a hire a new guy.

See post #1, this thread. Skill does not matter. The game will, except in some few borderline situations, find return loads 90% of the time

The first post says 90% chance they find a job (best case), but a low-skilled driver can lower that number.

The best thing you can do with your drivers is give them a cheap vanilla truck, auto level up, and most importantly never look back at them again.

Skills can reduce the number to 5%.

I stand corrected, not the first time :lunar2019smilingpig:
Skills open up cargo types then?

That as well.

Where does that figure come from because it does not reflect what I see in my (ETS2) data. Level 36+ drivers are just as likely to return empty as single digit levels are and the global figure is clustered around the anticipated 10%.

@the OP, check the logs of any driver that is returning empty regularly. Are they doing so pretty much after every outbound job to the same city? If so then you might be falling foul of a game mechanic that forces them to take a job to the location that is furthest away within their long distance skill range. Unfortunately sometimes, due to the vagaries of the routing system, the job back from that location is a little longer and further than their skill allows so they always head back empty. This should go away when they next level up long distance but you can choose to force the issue by switching their training policy to Long Distance until they next skill up.

fire them. they are useless. i started the career mode without hiring any drivers and did not take any loan. i just grind my way up and now i have so much money that i don't even know what to do with.
thats why i play with realistic money .. i am always broke and never owned a truck yet

The Pitts, not first hand experience, so something I picked up in conversations somewhere. My (dim) recollection is that it may have been a tester or SCS person who said it.

So right now utterly unverifiable as to veracity.

Yep I'm pretty sure this 10% isn't really something hard-coded. If there's a job available to their home city, drivers will 100% take it - as long as they have the proper skill of course.

TMK, the 10% is hardcoded.

Yes that's random since they don't take deliveries from actual listings or even required to use the same private trailer for inbound deliveries.

If they did, the chance of no delivery might be higher though.
