Normally i would post a link here, but i'm not sure if the ones i used are still up to date.
If you want to be sure you're not downloading anything suspicious, you could extract the game files and go from there...by replacing SCS dds files, but that may just be more difficult for a beginner...
Modstudio 2 is apparently a good programme for creating skins and SCS have made the blank templates for all the vanilla trucks and trailers available.
i have never been able to get the hang of skinning for this game.
i wish that there was a program available where you could skin directly onto a 3d model of the truck/trailer and then export the results as a mod file. i would even PAY for such a program

i tried out ben's mod helper, or something like that and that was very suspicious while installing it ;)
Thanks mate
yeah i was trying to install it, but my anti virus and the windows was telling me that some harmfull or untrusted datas are included.. i'm not a pc crack so this sounds not okay for me. it's just a image editing tool if i understand it right..
i don't get it why the installer wants to download additional files to the "offline installer" i downloaded ;)
maybe i have just to much fear to install it :D
i got no warning while installing Modstudio 2..

It creates the whole mod structure and you just have to replace the dds files.
All the templates are here:

An easy tool to paint driectly on the model would be cool, yes.
There are methods to paint on the model but it includes some work in Blender with the SCS tools.
Than you can export it to a 3D paint programm or paint in Blender directly.
Nothing you can do in a few minutes or with a few clicks.
But painting an the templates is usually good enough and has the advantage that you are only limited by the paint progamm you use.
The link you posted to Mods Studio is correct. It includes all the info and download/web-site links.

Thanks a lot my dear Truckerfriends!!!!!

Nice one for a first try.
Once you got the trick how to get them in the game, the rest is just fun and creativity.
