Range shifting with g29 shifter
so i finally got a wheel but i cant determine what gear im in with the range.

When i go 1-6 and want 7-12, hitting the toggle makes it 13-18 instead, and the other toggle just goes back to 1-6 not when i need 7-12. the toggles seem all over the place.

I read another post on it but i didnt understand how to map the range toggle

help pls

if using an 18 speed the shifting buttons are switched around.

Just go in controls and switch around shifter toggle #1 and shifter toggle #2

this is like, "left toggle 1-6, left right toggle 13-18, left tggle 1-6 right toggle 13-18, left toggle 1-6"

makes no sense

I also own the G29 with a shifter. Try using the Eaton Fuller setups... In my opinion, the EF shifting pattern is the easiest to learn and understand. You can find many (and I do mean tons of) diagrams that expain the EF shifting pattern, and its really simple. You will need to use both the range and splitter but its a blast.

The EF shifting patterns are supported in game already. Just go to your options, click the settings page that has the setup for your steering wheel and pedals, and scroll down to shifting pattern.

I have my range and splitter assigned to the blue buttons under the D-pad (L2, and L3 (left side)).

i have selected EF-18, with toggle1 being left dpad and toggle two being right dpad

this had been the most stressful thing ive ever shifted, and i set it to advanced gear behaviour so i hear a LOT of grinding lol

One button does 1-6 to 7-12 another does 7-12 to 13-18.

If your doing 18 speed and HAVEN'T touched the toggle
controls right toggle 1-6 to 7-12 left toggle 7-12 to 13-18. If your in 13-18 and want to go to 1-6 you need to press left toggle right toggle.

If you do what I said in my first post then the toggles switch. Left toggle 1-6 to 7-12 and right toggle 7-12 to 13-18.

EDIT: when I say left and right button im talking about the red buttons on the shifter (G27). Shifter toggles still work the same way on both wheels just different position.

You will get used to it :) .Most of the time I don't even use the splitter, just stay in High gear like so 1H -> 3H -> 5H -> 6H -> 7H -> 8H. The only time i use the low splits is when im struggling up a hill or using a less powerful engine. My 389 though has a 600 HP 2750 torque motor though so its easy to skip gears in it.

EDIT: btw, the grinding is usually because of 1 of 2 reasons. Either the clutch isnt fully engaged (pushed in all the way), or you are shifting too fast :P

i went back to range, getting used to toggle. i like rowing my gears more frequently.

ya i found out that im doing it too fast, i used the gps display for reference and i was de-clutching when it wasnt fully in gear yet. double clutch ftw.

Thanks for all your help! :D
