American Truck Simulator+Ice Road Truckers
I think it would be awesome if SCS Software made an Ice Road Truckers DLC or something like that. Who else agrees?

Not saying I'm against it, but the game is set at summer solstice; no ice roads at that time of the year. ;)

If you are thinking about something along the lines of the TV series, then there are plenty of potential licensing issues around the name "Ice Road truckers"

Alaska isn't in the game and there is no winter in the game right now.

Further hurdles include driving in those conditions is not for those that don't know how to drive in series winter conditions. Expect to crash and lose the load very quickly.

Driving in summer is also a whole lot easier and more pleasant.

TBH, I think that this would probably be better as a stand alone title idea.

Frosty's snow plus physics is annoying enough. It's like I'm steering a greased toboggan.
Before this thread derails into realistic weather and season requests, one thing I always thought about in case they'd never implement it, they could use the same approach as The Crew: making a city/state permanently on the weather it's known for. Like Los Angeles and Miami on Summer, Oregon and New York on Autumn, Montana and Salt Lake on Winter...

Try the Dalton Highway extreme winter map which is in 1:1 scale. But you have to run it on game version 1.45.

That would be really neat, actually. Not sure how well it would work since it wouldn't make much sense, but being able to drive up I-5 and watch the season fade from summer to autumn would be really pretty I bet!

Not against the idea. But I do believe there is a paid Alaska mod where there's Ice Roads and Blizzard Addon with it.

Without a doubt I'm sure Pro Mods will cover this at some point. However, that might be years away unfortunately or if it even comes since they're focused on Canada at the moment.

Yeah!! I watched a short video on the Alaskan Map, I think Jeff said it was a 1/16 scale, either way it was Abysmal, In my opinion

The old 18WOS games did exactly this.

The OP needs to check out the 18WOS: Extreme Trucker games which have what they’re looking for:

Ha Ha !!!!! Good One
This reminds me of the old F1 games I used to play in the Early Nineties, they came on a floppy disc and my 286 PC with a whopping 512Kb of memory ran it just fine.......lol

Maybe the weird stuff will be that the sunlight duration will be the same no matter if we're on a "Summer" or "Winter" zone, as the game simulates Sun position based on the day of year and our position. But at least we could have different environments in the same map.

BTW, going a little off-topic, is there any other game besides the Truck Simulators that also simulates the Sun like this?

Well remembered. I need to add at least the open world ones to my Steam list.

There's a paid mod that does the Alaska north all the way to prodhoe bay, just like ice road truckers. Not SCS thus no naming on this board. It does a real good job.
