Texas weigh station
There's a weigh station between Wichita Falls and Amarillo on Hwy. 287. If you are heading north the weigh station is on the south bound side so when you are called into this weigh station you must do a U turn , [good by road signs], or as the old saying goes "Gimmy 40 achers and I'll turn this rig around"]. So am I missing something, or should I just pass this one up ? Thank you .....

I'd give it a shot and see how good you are!

If its the one I think it is, its a pain. I just pass it by. Yeah, you get a fine, but worth it!
Edit: Ooop, just checked, its not the one I think it is. Answer still stands. :)

I pass it as well. There are two or three weigh stations that I just say, "uh uh." Either because it's a PITA to turn into like that one, or it takes you like two game hours to go through because they have these long winding service roads (i.e. off I-15 in Montana just north of Idaho border) you have to go around to get to the scale.

"Just pass it by" !!!! sounds like a good idea. What's a measly $700 fine anyway. Thanks for the quick reply

Sometimes I'll bother and sometimes I won't, often based on how much slack I have in the current job and sleep cycle. The fine is insignificant even as a solo owner operator. It would be nice if doing it all the time had some sort of consequence, like the fine doubling each time until you do actually stop, but as things stand you can simply ignore all weigh stations regardless of location without any impact over and above the tiny hit to the bottom line.

I believe these "Weigh Stations way out of the Interstates" feature of mapping started with Wyoming, correct me if I'm wrong though, but i don't tend to notice ones pre-Wyoming, ones on the Interstates especially.

These weigh stations are just like they are in real life; this isn't anything SCS is doing strange. ;)

I am aware, since SCS don't usually fabricate things out of thin air anymore, but these don't seem so prevalent on the previous states.

You can look it up on Google Earth. And it very likely will show you that this is how it is IRL too.

They are. I've already looked at many of them. ;)

For the record, we're talking about maybe one or two in a state usually out of many that are the standard quick off/on scale.

Another favorite to ignore is out of Dallas near the large rail yard and garage (off of I-45). You're receiver is the rail yard and you get prompted to weigh in. The problem is you have to pass your exit for the rail yard to hit the scale. So no problem, go down to the next exit and turn around right? Then you get prompted to weigh in from the opposing direction scale and same thing, if you choose to weigh you have to pass the exit. You could literally drive around in a circle until they decide to green light you. :P
