Windows 10 or 11

I am currently using Windows 8.1 and with the change occurring in January 2024, I am not familiar with Windows 10 or 11. Those of you out there that are using those operating systems..I would appreciate the pros and cons of each.. I am not looking for alot of bells and whistles. I use my computer mainly for playing games, I am leaning toward keeping my computer and just updating to a new OS rather than buying a new computer if possible. I am 75 and I love playing ATS and ETS2 so my computer knowledge is limited. Thanks in advance..

I installed Windows 11 on my second desktop PC. Doesn't have a supported CPU or TPM. Google is your friend.

Windows 10 still dominates though. Also older PCs like the OP has wont be able to use 11 because of its TPM 2.0 requirement. There are workarounds but its not easy for the average user. I would go with 10 because its way more stable than 11.

Also if you upgrade to a newer OS always do a clean install

I already told the OP his hardware is unlikely to be 11 compatible.

11 was a bit shonky at launch, but I don't have any stability problems with it now.

Windows 10 Installation

I wrote last week inquiring about installing Windows 10 or 11. After reading your kind suggestions on the issue, I decided to take the plunge and install Windows 10 I installed it over Windows 8.1.. I backed up my entire computer on an external hard drive using a commercial product, which made it a lot easier than copy and paste. I did that type of backup for the Document folder which contained ATS and ETS2. When the installation was done..everything and I mean everything was right where I left it. The desktop, my personal files, all my games...right there. The only thing I had to do was install a driver for my speakers. I just wanted to let you know that YOU helped me make that decision and it was not expensive..just SCARY. Thank you again..and Happy Trucking..
