School bus companies to be added as school bus delivery destinations
I was wondering if we are going to be delivering school buses, I wonder what they chose for companies to be delivering the buses to. In reality, one name that comes to mind is First Student. But I wonder what parody will be used for First Student.

BLUE BIRD IS A BUS COMPANY

I believe that First Student is the name of the company that operates the bus and not a manufacturer.

There'll be school bus manufacturer called YELCO in Oklahoma DLC.

The question was about where the buses will be delivered TO. I think no one knows the answer at this point but hopefully we're not taking them to Walberts.

Interesting question. I work for First Student and typically all the buses we get are driven to our lot. We don't receive deliveries of buses on trailers. In reality, school buses leave the plant and are driven to a dealer or directly to a customer, they are not loaded onto trailers and transport themselves. Have you ever seen a convoy of school buses going down the interstate with cars hooked to the back? Big, bright, shiney new units likely going to a dealer or direct customer.

On the flip side, have you even seen the same setup but the buses are old and sun baked? Sometimes they even chain two together. These units are likely from the same lot and were sold in bulk to another company, usually out of the country. They get taken south of the border and put back to work until they literally fall apart.

While I think being able to haul around a school bus is cool, it is not realistic.

The link is the only answer we have, only SCS knows where we will be delivering them (un less they are already in the def files, but I'm not wasting my time going through them)

Interesting tidbit to go along with what alec552 said above. Some of those motorhomes you see going down the interstate highways towing cars or pickup behind are being delivered to dealers. The other thing I find interesting is if 2 or more are going to the same dealer they will each be towing their own return transportation instead of the drivers hitching a ride back to the factory together. I've been told it has something to do with the drivers contract.

I have seen Type A and B school buses carried on trailers, never a larger one.

Doesn't have to be exclusively to or from a manufacturer, though it can be. There are loads of old and new individual school buses delivered on gooseneck trailers to and from factories, schools, brokers, etc. Can be for use, repairs, storage, etc. There are even companies that specialize in it.

Sounds pretty cool, I have personally never seen them on trailers in my 9 years of OTR, maybe I just wasn't paying attention. I think the reason why they mainly just drive the bus itself is cost. I imagine it is cheaper to just drive the bus instead of hiring a company to transport it. Maybe the customer decides if they want the mileage on the unit or not, distance probably plays a role as well. I once applied to a company that was OTR but all they did was transport new vehicles from the plant to the dealers and what not, only needed a CDL B because you were either driving a bobtail or a straight truck/bus.

I know i real life that the bus plant in Tulsa is IC which is the company that bought at Amtran and Amtran was the one that bought Ward. But in the game, some of the buses look like if the front ends look though if they were made partially from Superior. The tail end of some of the buses may be from Superior. Blue Bird, Thomas, and what was Ward, Superior, and Carpenter were bus builders. Ward had three switch panels on the inside in the 1960s. The guys who worked in Quality Control saw all three of them. You had the full stretch ones that ran the full length of the driver's window, you had the almost square shaped panel that sat up by the windshield, and they had the V shaped one that sat on an angle. I remember they had the white bull knobs and the stop arm had an optional hand crank. I remember riding that bus and hearing the stop sign crank squeak and same with the doors on the bus as they would open with a loud squeak and I would hear them slam against the door link bar. The wipers were more like what we would see on the old design on the KW W900.

I think that Blue Bird is the only bus company that I recall off the top of my head, but do yall think that the new school buses will be the electric type? Since they are not going to be driven (unless through a mod), one could conceive that the electric buses should be easy to model, as they just require a blue bumper, and blue rims

The School Bus Capital achievement has a problem, there is no bus plant in the game in Tulsa. the hoods and buses go to/ from the MWM plant in Tulsa, and it doesn't count toward the achievement. I've done one of each. There are two Johnson and Smith plants, maybe one of them should be the Yelco bus plant ? in any case. this needs to be fixed

Yes there is. It is called Yelco. If you are using a real company mod then that mod may have changed the name of the company.

ETA: There is nothing to fix. They are called achievements for a reason. Some are harder than others.
