Cloud crap
i am pissed beyond believe! you would think that if you offer cloud storage that you could go in and recover your saves! Not in Steam! My other computer motherboard crapped out and now with a NEW computer, i dl ats again and EVERYTHING i worked for is GONE! How do you offer something and not be able to access it! Xbox does it, i guess ps would do it too. So how come steam doesn't do it? why doesn't the achievements reset too? you lose everything but achievements? steam needs a better cloud storage!!!!!

That is something you should contact Steam Support about.

Idk, i hear a lot of bad stories about Steam Cloud Storage. On Ge Force Now we have no choice but to use it, and after about 800 hours, not an issue YET (i want to clarify that word).

The thing we don't have, what i think you do have here on PC, is the ability to back it up i guess in folders? We don't, i mean one bad update, or something or other, we're up a creek.

Sometimes you need to start a new profile with a DIFERENT name before it triggers your saves and game linking.

Users that create a new profile with an existing profile name find that they just create a new save with an existing profile. Did you active Steam cloud on the game or the profile - you must do both.

Is steam cloud showing as being unsynced or are you getting a different message.

I can say that my PC recently had a Windows meltdown, where I lost most of my content on my C: drive, and a new install was needed. All my Steam games and DLC, plus all my Cloud saved profiles and saved games were all still there when I re-installed Steam and re-downloaded my current games.
If you were storing profiles and saves in your Documents folder and it was wiped, then you have lost them, unless you backed them up to another drive, or you were using the Steam Cloud save.
Cloud save must be turned on in the game and in Steam itself to work, you have to check this yourself.
If you were using the Cloud successfully before, then the save should still be there, if you activate it properly. If you have not backed up your old documents folder in an accessible place, then all the old saves are gone.
If you are seeing all your achievements for the game, then you have connected to your original profile for the game on Steam, but if you didn't use the Steam Cloud save before, it won't have any saves or profiles stored.
Lesson learned: in IT, always have an extra back-up, even for Cloud saves, at a location unconnected to your main PC. Just as true for home users as businesses.

Try here
To download your Saved Games from Steam Cloud, open https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage in your browser and sign into your account. Search for the game you want, then download your saves.

I'm just going to answer this part, as I don't use Cloud storage at all for anything. Achievements on Steam are stored by Steam as a separate thing entirely. They are not profile specific. They are game specific.

you are right Don, but you should tell everyone that you should NOT start the game again before you dl your saved files. I looked at ats dir and it was already written over the old data cause i started the game. but i dl the other saved game data that i didn't start yet.

I can reliably say, turn that crap off.. I used Steam Cloud 3 Times and all 3 Times I had no Save anymore. It messed up 3 of my Saves one of them being at lvl74. Just never use Steam Cloud for ATS or ETS.

I don't understand the problem here. I bought a new gaming laptop, installed Steam, signed in with my profile, it gave me the option to download the games i already have in Steam including ATS and EuroTruck 2, which i did. fired up the game started with a new different profile, THEN i downloaded my CLOUD saved games which included my original online profile plus all the DLC's, and my game is identical to the game on my PC only now i have the game settings maxed out cause i got a better CPU, GPU and a great graphics card.. Winning at life :-)

Stop relying on other people for your necessities. If saves are that important to you (like they are to me) you will make certain that your save files are maintained on your own computers. You will make sure that you are responsible for your save files instead of trusting someone else.

One who surrenders his freedom for some small measure of convenience deserves neither freedom nor convenience.

I have never had an issue with Steam Cloud, period. Guess I'm lucky, I guess.

You and me, both, as I have used it since I started playing Steam games with it available. All my Epic, Ubisoft and Rockstar games use Cloud saves with no problems either.
If local saves are available for back-up I back up to a drive not on this PC and on this PC as well. Spinning rust conventional disk drives are cheap per Mb right now, so there is no excuse for not backing up important files.

As unfortunate it is to loose all progress, I recommend to use an additional software to backup game saves, like for example "GameSave Manager".
