Trailer axles
I am trying to understand the in-game impact of choosing different trailer axle setup for ownable trailers.

So, I know more axles mean more stability but also bigger turning radius unless the trailer steerable axle(s). I also know liftable axles behave the same way as the truck's liftable axles, no problem with that. However, I have a few questions:

1. Is a trailer with steerable axle(s) easier in reverse parking? Normally when reversing wheel left means trailer right but is this changed with steerable trailer axle since the trailer steerable wheels follow the truck's steering wheel?

2. What are the pros and cons of Tandem Sliding front, rear and spread axle setup?

3. As far as I know, there is no in-game control to slide the Tandem Sliding axles but it's what you buy. Am I correct in that?

I would appreciate any help.

The sliding tandems can be slid using F7 -- Trailer Adjust area. However SCS has this totally screwed up because you can not use this when loaded, but only when empty. Plus the option is not really all that feasible as the options are either all the way forward and all the way back. Those trailer options, although some do need to be this way in real life because of load weight it is generally not done.

Until SCS fixes this and adds more options(sliding the tandems when loaded like most of the drivers do) and areas to where the tandems can be set there is absolutely no point in using sliding tandems in the game in my opinion.

It is hard to slide 5th wheel and sliding axles when loaded. It can e done but it is hard to do. You have to jerk your truck and trailer around. To adjust 5th wheel. It is best to be on flat level ground and dolly down. Do not unlock 5th wheel. Pull forward or backward slowly. Tandems should be scotched and unlocked and slide slowly both are better done empty before loading. But the would require knowing what state need them adjusted..

Double axles at rear, trailer turns slower needing bigger steering cuts and therefire slower chasing [ cab back in line], same with spread axles. Once mastered best way bit hard in tight spots. Axles to the front means quicker turns and less harsh chasing. BUT rear of trailer does NOT turn meaning it swings in an arc and can catch obstacles [cars, fences, buildings]]. IRL i preferred axles to the rear MOST of the time. May mean an extra pullup but better than hooking some object.

many shippers want the trailer tandems to the rear when loading (less bounce when forklifts enter and leave trailer).
well maintained trailer has no problems sliding loaded or unloaded.
last 2 loads i did were 45,000 and 38,000 both had to be slid and scaled.
i have not had to move my 5th wheel in a few years, in general if you need to slid the 5th wheel it is due to the trailer not being loaded properly and needs to be reworked

how long was the trailer you pulled?
53 ft dry van trailer with tandems to the rear going point A to Point B the off track is more likely to run over something esp off main freeways, with load it puts weight on drive wheels which on many loads i run would make them grossly overweight.
my most recent heavy loads both trailers were loaded in such a way that the trailer tandem had to be near the front to scale out properly.
45,000 lb load recently trailer had to be 6 holes from front to get 33,600 on the trailer and 33,300 on drive tires.
Yards if they are not tight yes having tandem to rear can make it easier to back into a slot but very few yards i deal with give enough room for that.
Generally i run mine forward but not all the way to the front.
Holes 8-12 on the slide.
