Issue With Crashing...
Hello,

I am trying to play ATS but every so often the game randomly closes completely. Sometimes it will be after playing for 2 minutes, other times it will be after playing for 2 hours. I have no idea what is causing it and do not have any mods installed. (At least I don't think I do.)

This is the pastebin for my game.log: https://pastebin.com/HiFHYg2v

I am running an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core Processor with an ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming Graphics Card if that helps.

Thank you.

Try setting these to 0 in your config file:

00:00:00.810 : uset cf_asus_aura "1"
00:00:00.810 : uset cf_razer_chroma "1"

I tried this, and booted the game back up. Drove around for a little bit, even did a little quick travel (since a few of the crashes happened when I was quick traveling), and that seemed to fix things as far as I can tell. Thank you for the quick response! :)

Would it be too much to ask what was wrong/going on to cause the crashing? I am asking out of pure curiosity.

Actually, about 55 minutes into my gaming session, it randomly crashed again...

New game.log from the crash please. And the last entry of your game.crash file.

This could be the problem:
"00:00:00.363 : [ufs] Home directory: 'C:/Users/asaka/OneDrive/Documents/American Truck Simulator'."
ATS does not like using OneDrive for the home directory, it expects the folder to be in the documents folder on your "C:" drive

Is your computer using OneDrive, even if you did not ask it to? Windows will use OneDrive as the documents folder and ATS will not run correctly if it does so.
Stop using OneDrive:

You can copy the ATS folder into your documents folder and you should do a back-up to another safe location, as well.

Change this line in the config (or config.cfg) file:
00:00:00.xxx : uset cf_asus_aura "1"
00:00:00.xxx : uset cf_razer_chroma "1"
Change the "1" to "0" (zero) in both lines and save it.
You can find the file in your documents in the ATS folder.

Coming at this from a different angle, have you checked your frame rate? On newer hardware both ATS and ETS2 will pump as many frames as your card can render and things get screwy eventually. People on this board will try to tell you that's a good thing but 1600+fps on a menu screen is NOT a good thing XD

Pretty sure no one in here will tell anyone that. Maybe in a FPS game but not in a truck simulator game.

Before turning off OneDrive, you might want to check the availability status of your Documents folder. Perhaps it is enough to change the availability status to always available on this device.
What I do not know is whether the game will automatically search for the game files in your Documents folder or whether a new installation will be required.

This seemed to do the trick. I built this computer on Sunday and had to get a friend to help me(I'm not very techsavy) and I didn't really know I had OneDrive enabled on this computer. I just played a 3+ hour session after removing OneDrive and it ran beautifully with no crashes, so I think that wraps this issue up.

Thank you to everyone who helped. :)

Microsoft is getting sneaky/using guerrilla tactics to enable and install their garbage, including automatically using OneDrive and setting Edge as the default browser. I feel like its a constant fight, especially with a new install, to figuratively beat the unwanted Microsoft products back into submission so they stay out of your way.

I see this differently and that is all I want to add to this ...
Tsundere Addict Jan 28, 2023 @ 11:18am
Okay, apparently getting rid of OneDrive wasn't enough to stop the game from crashing. I also set my cf_asus_aura and cf_razer_chroma numbers to 0. I do not know what the issue could be at this point. There are times it crashes within minutes, and other times I can go a full 6-7 hours before it finally crashes. Also note that in my game.log it mentions Windows 10, however I am running Windows 11 Pro.

Here https://pastebin.com/jwU2Jz7A is the pastebin for the new game.log file. At the bottom, I added three spaces, and then the last line of my game.crash file.

Thank you again to anyone that helps me.

Edit: I am having the same issue with Euro Truck Sim 2, and I have tried all these fixes for that game, as well.

You've got a corrupt game file:

00:01:56.901 : <ERROR> There was an error while inflating (<SYSFS>../../base.scs)

Verify the game cache. In the Library, right-click the game title, then select Properties. Then click on "Local Files", then the Verify integrity button.

I did this, and unfortunately, the game crashed again after about 3 minutes.

That does not appear to be a crash. The last lines indicate that the game loaded successfully, though there is no evidence of a quit either.
