What is the best way to set up a thrustmaster TH8A for an 18 speed transmission?
I got a TH8A shifter recently, and I'm confused on how to set it up for 18 speed transmissions. Could anyone give me some tips?

do you have a splitter?

No, just a base TH8A shifter

ttbomk you need at least 2 buttons, 1 to split gears and one to switch between gearboxes, at least that's how it was done when i drove a 16 speed irl.

You only need to use six slots on the shifter for gear selection, I blocked off the right most slots (labeled 7 and R) using a piece of windshield washer tubing, anything about that size and a bit flexible will work. You can use 2 buttons located anywhere, wheel, KB etc to toggle between high range and low range and between the two splitter states, or 4 buttons to select High Range/Low Range and L/H Splits. Don't confuse the high and low ranges with the H and L on the splitter :lunar2019smilingpig:
The advantage of using a proper knob is that there are switches for the Range and Split settings and you can see or feel which is selected. Without that you have to look at the dash to see where you have things set.

Ooh, okay, what shifter setup do you recommend? thats the other issue ive been having, like range + splitter, eaton fuller, etc

There is a preset for the EF 18, and the same shift pattern works for some of the other boxes, eg EF16
My TH8A is always set in the Options to Eaton Fuller 18 Speed and Simple Automatic when I just use Buses. For some reason EF 18 Speed seems to be the default setup anyway for all the chosen transmissions available. I never use the other transmission options anyway because the EF 18 Speed already seems to do that less some gears.

If there was only Hitchhikers 42/7 to pick up along the sides of the roads and not just accidents to avoid I would request them in new ATS updates.

KEEP CALM AND CARRY HITCHHIKERS
