Best First truck for beginers?
I would prefer a truck that can take a beating and has a decent time getting over hills. Thanks for your help!!!!!!

You need the most powerful engine, available for any truck. Either play until you unlock it, or use mods

powerful engine, good handling and a 10+ gearbox is what you're looking for...
You have to be able to buy one that features all these things (by having some money and a higher level)
The 579 is a great truck imo, but I'm "slightly" biased as a Pete guy :steammocking:

Ient back and forth between Kenworth and the Pete I finally settled on. I like both but I currently use A Pete.

I think I started with the Peterbilt but switched once the Kenworth W900 came out and did most on that until I was well into level 20 something.
After that I started driving the T680. It is much smoother to me. The sacrafice of top speed isn't a big deal.

Wait until you unlock a retarder transmission for whatever truck you want. It will help you slow down when you go down hills.

lol retarder transmission dont get used here in North America unless its a bus

I didn't know that, I thought it was added to ATS because it was used. Thank you for that correction. Still like to add one to my truck though. : )

If new to truck sims, I'd recommend the Pete 579. While not the most powerful in the game, it is sufficiently powerful to get the job done and it handles very well. Wait until about level 5 or 6 to get a few upgrades on it and it'll do well.

The T680 is also a good choice, but not my personal preference due to the trip computer and styling. I drive without the Route Advisor up and rely on the truck's instruments.

While the analog speedometer is fine, it's numbers are a bit small. The T680's trip computer does not have a digital speed readout beyond the cruise control, while the 579's shows current speed as well as CC speed. If you use the Route Advisor for speed info, this isn't an issue and the choice would be based more on looks.

The W900 is currently the best truck in the game, but it's very long and can be a bear to handle in tight spots. The day cab W900 is just as long as the 579 with a sleeper.
