No wheel/pedal today is going to include a shifter with it. The TH8A is a full metal shifter. Compared that to the Logitech Driving Force shifter which is all plastic.
Matter of fact...I don't recommend any Logitech wheel for ATS/ETS2. Their force feedback isn't the greatest(in ATS/ETS2), the wheels feel "notchy" because of their helical gear system. Thrustmaster T300RS uses a combination of belts/pulleys for force feedback.
The plus side to that specific wheel is changing out the wheel rims, if you ever wanted to.
It's been an awesome wheel and pedal set for the price.
The TH8A is worth every penny but costs a LOT of pennies...I would hate to go back to the plastic hunk of junk that came with my Logitech. For ATS/ ETS2 I think that it is clearly superior to the Fanatec.
I would also hate to be without a load cell brake pedal, where brake force is proportional to pedal pressure rather than distance you have pressed the pedal. Again, not as big a deal in ATS/ETS2 as in racing games where it is a night and day difference.
If I were starting out and not contemplating any of the higher quality stuff I expect I'd build up a Thrustmaster system. Balance budget and wants/needs and good luck!
I agree totally with this post. I have a T500 RS and a TH8A shifter. I also had a G29 and have a G920 and a driving force shifter. Everything AyMazingATS said is correct. There is one thing he didn't mention and that is the Logitech wheels also rattle when driving on rough surfaces. So not only do the Logitech wheels feel notchy they rattle as well along with having crap FFB for ATS and ETS2.
I am not saying Logitech wheels are no good but for ATS and ETS2 the Thrustmaster are far superior.
Have a look at this list to get an idea of how things stack up generally.
The key difference between Logitech and Thrustmaster/Fanatec is the geared drive vs belt drive (skip the TM wheels with hybrid drives). Belt drives are much smoother and provide stronger, more detailed force feedback. They're also quieter.
The Thrustmaster T300 is an great base at a decent-ish price but I wouldn't recommend the T3PA pedals, they're not really any improvement over the Logitech. The T3PA-Pro pedals are a significant improvement but will up the price a fair bit - even more so if you add a load cell kit (highly recommended).
I definitely recommend the TH8A shifter, its an excellent piece of hardware.
Also a G29 normally retails for $399, the same as the T300. T300 is a no brainer purchase.
I would take superior build quality with a smooth wheel that one that shakes and rattles any day of the week.
I know price is an issue for some people but if they really want a wheel which will work well in ATS and ETS2 then Thrustmaster is a far better choice than Logitech. I have had both and there is a huge difference between them.
the guy who said the G29 costs 400 bucks has not bothered to actually look and should be ignored anyways. heres one for 214 with free shipping and it took me 5 seconds to find.

Telling me I should be ignored...whatever. I'm well aware the G29 is on sale for far below retail. Hence why I said "normally retail" or did that little fact slip your mind?
