Steam Cloud for ATS
Can't say this is a new thing because I only just spotted it.
You can enable it through Settings | Cloud.

950Mb.
Not much considering some single mods are way bigger'n that.
Anyone tried it yet?

Maybe it is not enabled yet because the saves are actually a festival of files & folders, not compliant with how Steam Cloud works, don't know.

The steam cloud you see in settings is for the workshop. It is where the preview pictures are stored.

So ... if anyone deactivate his Steam Cloud for ATS, he won't have any preview of the workshop ? And if x hundreds of people access one item of the workshop, the preview of that item will be copied x hundred time to x hundred Steam Cloud users ?

I couldn't say. It's just what we were told during testing of the workshop when we asked what it was for.

Thanks for replies.
Mine was unchecked by default. Steam Workshop still work. Even when checked and enabled, SW still works.
It does say that the Cloud is for games that support it. Maybe ATS and ETS2 don't support it yet?

No Steam save for ETS2 and ATS, it's very sad. I think this feature should be No.1 priority for these games.

As Nono54Fr pointed out, there's a large number of files possible with an ETS2 or ATS save. It could be gigabytes in terms of mods. It's not as simple as one might think to just 'enable' a Save Cloud for these two games.
However, there are 3rd party websites that do cater for cloud-synching.

I think a ETS2-ATS save file is a very very small one, i guess it's a few KB only. The game saves the truck position, cargo and condition and a few stats about truck company. The save info is very small, the save reload is very very fast as all players know about. What GB are you talking about? They could allow a limited number (e.g. 5) of saves per player to avoid "overloading" the Steam saving server and also provide a dedicated UI button for the special Steam save, i mean the default save could not be the Steam save.
I think it's ultra easy. No World Of Trucks and other nonsense.

When ETS2 had a limit of 154 drivers, and all those drivers were hired, and all had trucks and were all doing deliveries, the save_game file was about 3Mb.
My profile folder is currently 5Mb. I don't have any drivers hired. I own one truck.

The game saves the entire game state. The only thing it doesn't save is AI spawns.

My truck is aradeth's VNL670. I have Jazzycat's trailers and cargo pack, and his railway pack as well as 50Keda's Wheels pack. Also a Hella Luminator light mod and a small mod of my own that changes the economy to a more realistic one.
All of that is almost 2Gb.
Because the entire game state is saved, so are the types of mods and which particular truck parts OF those mods you have fitted plus a bunch of other info.

In order for a Cloud Save to be completely portable to any computer connected to the web, ALL of the above info must be saved along with the profile info, otherwise the saved game won't work.

Oh.. and speaking of WoT, that info would be saved as well and need to be carried along with the Cloud Save otherwise any WoT job you had current when you saved, would not be there.

Save files are reference points, not actual gaming data. That's how saving works with games. Save is instant when exiting game, if every save would be many MB and GB, many gamers would have a full hard disk after a few days of gaming.
room217au Jul 7, 2016 @ 1:51am
You misunderstand. The game save references mods. If they aren't there, the save won't work properly.
Nimir-Raj Jul 7, 2016 @ 2:50am
I would imagine if/when the include true cloud support, if the mods are via workshop it will offer to automatically download. But if they are manual installs, it would give you the normal missing mod warning.

I simple fix for that would be to make your mod folder a shared folder via google drive or similar service across all your gaming devices.
room217au Jul 7, 2016 @ 4:16am
IF the mods are via workshop. I would hate to see the latency when loading map mods during gameplay from a server in Botswana or whatever.
I'm assuming the cloud-synch would only happen at log on and logg off? Meaning autosave_drive wouldn't need to go to Cloud in real-time?
