LOL Turn off traffic offences in the settings. Although, jasonharris2's advice is pretty darn good too.

Go as slowly as possible!

If you don't want to turn off the settings that apply penalities; just ensure that you keep an eye on the speed limits and learn the speeds within areas and certain roads. You have around a 10% margin for speeding on the posted speed limit so if you go over; you still have some leeway. Just be weary about limit transitions where the speed drops suddenly e.g 80mph to 65mp or 55mph to 30 etc...

In watching the speed limit presented on my map, I've seen no (or almost no) areas over 55mph on the highways.

Am I wrong? Where are highways over 55mph?

But anyhow, my best advice would be if you want to avoid tickets, just keep it at 55 on highways, 30 if it looks like a city or small town/narrow road.

Or, really, just watch your speed limit on the GPS, since it's displayed in the corner. :)

55mph on the highway has proven more than sufficient for any jobs I've done for the most part.

Occasionally I get one that's *kinda* glitchy in that it gives you one "day" (~12 hours or whatever) to complete it, but the time allowed ends up being just barely insufficient because it was going to take all the waking hours I had left plus change.

But I could blame that on myself for not looking at the job more carefully I suppose, but driving faster than the (typical) speed limit of 55mph might have gotten me there in time.

Like many countries trucks have a lower speed limit on highways and roads than general traffic.

so you wont find many highways with a higher truck speed limit.

even with offences turned on though i find its fairly safe to speed on remote highways especially at night.

Using cruise control helped me a lot in areas where speed limit is 30. Its easy to go over 30. So I get to around 26 to 29 mph, press C, and I stay at that speed until I want to slow down. No more tickets.

In general, cruise control makes driving a lot funner and helps to avoid tickets.

Yep and the only thing you have to watch with tom cruise control is going downhill - I was burned the other day with CC set to 58mph in a 55 zone and down the hill I reached 62mph which saw me ticketed but otherwise; this is a neat bit of kit to maintain a cosistent safe speed particularly through cities.

Speeds vary by state. California trucks are limited to 55, Nevada has higher speeds. If you want to go faster then stay in Nevada.

Nevada's limit for trucks in 80mph on highways and mostly 70mph outside of cities but the usual 30mph in towns and cities.

Another vote for cruise control and a engine with the retarder.

I will set the cruise below the speed limit and then use cruise increase to get to the right speed and the cruise decrease when the speed drops. The cruise plus the retarder drops the speed very quickly but you won't over do it an end up going way too slow.

Well, there is a statewide speed limit of 55mph in California (for trucks). Like J4MESOX4D said, you should see higher limits in Nevada.

Yes, the retarder really helps. Also, if I'm not mistaken, cruise control uses retarder to keep speed from increasing too much when going downhill.
