I occasionally get a phantom shift, where I physically shift the shifter into another of the H pattern slots yet the game still thinks its in the previous slot. This could be me though as it seems to happen far less when I take my time shifting instead of trying to quick shift.
Further to those above - ATS/ETS2 will accept up to 5 individual USB connected controllers for input. Your DFGT will count as one device, the game will allow you to use up to four more in addition.

The TH8A has a pin connector that's supposed to fit in the Thrustamster wheel. The Logitech wheel does not have that connector. So the TH8A ships with its own USB adaptor, which is a USB to pin connector cable that's maybe 3-4 feet long, pin connector at one end, USB at the other. The TH8A can be used on any computer that has a USB port for it.
I should mention, it's pretty big. The shifter knob is a standard automobile shifter knob, so you can replace it with anything that fits on a car. I'm thinking of getting a chrome skull, or something like this:
