American Truck Simulator Map DLC Clarifications [blog.scssoft.com]
In this blog it is posted:
The general consensus will be once they reach the smaller states east of the Mississippi that we should start seeing state packs, or multiple states in one DLC.
We, the player base, vote on continuing development with our wallets. This simply means buying the official map expansions even though they are not a required purchase.
Granted, they are going at it slow.
I get the feeling that they are like SCS and wont put anything new till they are satisfied with the results.
Since what you asked for isn't happening soon, you were given an alternative. An alternative with a good team behind it putting a lot of effort, very similar to SCS content. Looking at screenshots from either without being told which is which, you'd easily mistake them.
Canada and its provinces aren't being left behind. They are prioritizing other locations first and going from there. Canada is planned. That's all we know. We also know it'll come after the 48 states. Can't finish the US without Canada(Alaska).
Wouldn't that be "Canadian Truck Simulator" lol.
That's being kind of literal isn't it? Canadians consider themselves Americans now? It's an American Truck game.
Snowrunner is a great game, and he can try that, or as was said, the Mods. But if they're going to Canada knowing just the East Coast would take them 5 years, he's got a long wait.
This is not just an American truck game based on the United States. "North America" the continent is what SCS is referring to.
ATS is about the style of trucks. Even the store description in the first sentence says this.
Experience legendary American trucks and deliver various cargoes across sunny California, sandy Nevada, and the Grand Canyon State of Arizona.

"It would be great to get the chance to reach the East Coast, it would be fabulous to be able to push north towards at least 60 degs latitude and south towards the Equatorial."
Well, honestly i never took it from a literal sense, and idt most did. It's an American game, but to the extent what you're saying is right, given they haven't even done the midwest, let alone the east coast, i'd even be willing to tell the OP it's never happeing on this game.
You cited their "intentions". My intention is to be a millionaire.
Maybe the next game, being idk if they can push a game and engine this old for many more years.
There is not going to be an ATS2. This is exactly why they are using the game engine they created(Prism3D). It is being updated to DX12 as we speak and new features being added.
ETA: Plus they do not need to pay licensing fees, etc to some other game developer; in this case for Unreal Engine....Epic Games.
Unreal Engine(first iteration is 1998. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreal_Engine) is old too. Being old doesn't make it obsolete when it can be updated, modules replaced(already happened with SCS's Prism3D - Fmod and new lighting), and more.
ETA2: Post from Max on the SCS Forums that confirms the above: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=1737223#p1737223

it has ben stated more times that we are working on graphic changes.
it is just hell lot of work. for the same reason no bigger visible changes happened in last updates/years. it would be waste of time to make it
Well just to be clear, i heard myself on an interview the developers "intentions" to bring the game to consoles. What are the chances of that?
They "intend' so they say debating that often, but cited it never seems to happen.
In other words, is it correct to give the OP hope this game is going to Canada of all places even in the coming years?
You're citing what the developers intend, and i wish them the best. But it''s not going to happen.
Because the devs also intended to bring the game to DX11 and look where we are today. They also intended to bring all the major truck brands in the game which we have.
Porting a PC game to a console isn't easy and Pavel stated in the ETS2 Anniversary livestream (which SCS still hasn't uploaded to YouTube yet!) that you need to think how to continue to update the game on consoles as they have, unlike PCs, a limited livespan and get discontinued including the services. But not only that but every console also has its own OS and graphics API. Which means that what works in DX11 might not work on the Playstation graphics API or the Switch graphics API. So it needs to be translated to there which is a ton of work for a game as big as ETS2 and ATS.
