Others are also reporting fps issues on the SCS forum: SCS forum thread ATS[forum.scssoft.com]

SCS said that they are investigating.
Thanks a lot for your reply
Ok ...so here's the settings I'm using and they work very well (for now)
Values to set in the Config.cfg File
uset r_buffer_page_size "100"
uset g_bloom "0"
uset t_averaging_window_length "144"
Note- set this value to double what frame rate you are locking at
e.g. 60FPS=120 value set…72FPS=144 value set
IMPORTANT NOTE- There is a setting in the CFG File that blacks out the small convex mirrors on both left and right mirrors while leaving the large main mirrors active.
I found this setting to help frame rates as the GPU does not have to draw another set of mirrors. If you prefer to have them active just simply reset the uset r_mirror_group "2"
Back to the default value of “3” and all mirrors will be active.
NVIDIA Settings- Restore Global Settings to DEFAULT BEFORE USING THESE SETTINGS
Program Settings- SELECT American Truck Simulator (These will apply only to ATS)
Anis tropic Filtering -16X
AA FXAA- ON
AA Gamma-ON
AA Mode- Override any application
AA Setting-8X
AA Transparency- 8X (Supersample)
Low Latency Mode-ULTRA
MFAA- ON
Texture Filtering anistropic Sample Optimise- OFF
Texture Filtering Negative LOD-CLAMP
Texture Filtering-High Quality
Texture Filtering Tri-Linear Optimise-ON
Triple Buffering-ON
When done hit APPLY All settings that were changed will be in BOLD TYPE.
ATS IN-Game Settings
Resolution- 1920X1080 (or whatever your native resolution is)
Refresh Rate- 143hz (or whatever your monitor’s refresh rate is)
V-SYNC- Economic (saves energy on notebooks) This will set your FPS to half your refresh rate.
NOTE- If using a 60hz Monitor set V-SYNC to ENABLED (your frames will lock at 60FPS)
In my case it is locked at 72FPS (half my 144hz monitor) which is enough for me.
Scaling- 400% (or less if you get frame drops)
AA (SMAA) DISABLED
SSAO DISABLED
These two settings are controlled through NVIDIA so important to keep them OFF
DOF- ON
Sun shafts-ON
Color Correction- OFF/ON (play with it…I prefer OFF)
Reflection Scaling-100%
EVERYTHING ELSE- HIGH (NOT ever Ultra)
EXCEPT-MIRRORS- ALL 3 SETTINGS SET TO MEDIUM (Resolution Quality and Distance) IMPORTANT!
Anistropic Filtering- Slider all the way to the right (Max)
Normal Maps-ON
Traffic Headlights-ON
Secondary Vehicle Lights -OFF (IMPORTANT)
Light Visibility- I use a CUSTOM (set through Config.cfg File) but HIGH will work as well
Pedestrians-OFF
I also set HDR ON in Windows 10 as I find it tones down the over brightness that ATS has
But that’s just my preference.
Hope it might work well for you
Hi, I did that you suggested, and it was helpful, just in the config file, something went wrong, and when I launched the game the screen was completley black but with sound, the file as default was created again after some tryes, and finally I recovered the image, and I was able to play it, and about the performance of the game is now much better but I got stuttering, and form 19 FPS to 30 FPS at night I think is better than nothing,
Thanks a lot for your help, I did 6 long deliveries.
Not only more GPU but CPU power as well.
Recently upgraded to Ryzen 5600 and Power Color 6700XT Red Devil and I never drop out of the 70's at 400% percent scaling and max settings on everything at 1440p.
As the game moves on upgrades are required.
You can NOT think that just because your setup worked 3 or 5 years ago with the highest settings that it will continue to do so. You have to move forward.
@OP: It would be great stating which CPU you have since there are a lot of i7 CPUs which have all widely different specs. Quite some of them have integrated GPUs and seeing that you state to have 30FPS makes me think that you are currently running the game on your integrated GPU instead of your dedicated GPU.
My 2700x+1080ti system still plays this with zero issues. Admittedly I did finally have to drop down from maxed settings to high a few updates back to maintain the smoothness. Good thing I have a backup PC.
no, game sometimes goes to 60/50 fps down to zero even at minimum details, most of the times it seems that it tries to load different audio sources at once and it drops down to 1fps, the other thing causing excessive bumps is the automatic save system and the fact that WoT it's getting too intrusive for my likes as in the past it didn't tamper with truck settings, but now it is, lastly the economic sync it's also causing fps spikes, specially when it happens during a save
My system can run ArmA 2/3 at high settings with no bumps, and ArmA games do have a whole lot of devils compared to a bunch of flipped assets contained on ATS and ETS2.
I did not say that the auto save it's too slow, it's a minus 5 to 10fps down, the they go up to 60.
If you disconnect from WoT or suspend a delivery then:
Truck Mirrors, FoV and seat settings (for now) will stay untouched
Suspension heigth, side windows, navigator, lights will be reset to close/off and the navigator map will default to 2nd option.
It didn't happen in the past, but right now each two or three minutes it save both truck and trailer position on the X,Y and Z axis, that means if you roll over due stupid AI torpedoing you and load your quicksave your are screwed, in the past a quicksave would just save your day.
Economy sync also does make me to drop 5fps or so
In the last days I had to shut down the game and also to reset my desktop twice on McAllen and Brownsville, due GTA effect and dumb AI tboning me too much while exploring dem new crappy romboid junctions I set g_traffic to 0, each time the plane flew over or other city sounds loaded AFTER TELEPORTING through external camera, game was freezing up, despite city assets being loaded at their fullest, another city located either in the midwest of Texas, can't remember which one has a garage nearby a train crossing, was freezing my game on start-up, for three times in a row I had to kill ATS process, at the fourth time I decided to quick travel on the garage that was basically 100 meters behind and the game loaded up fine.
