are you on a hill

if so when you take the brakes off the truck rolls back

Are you sure it's "D1", "D2" and not "R1", "R2"? My Pete has 3 reverse gears, R1, R2 and R3.

I've had mine roll backwards on flat surfaces while not in reverse gear. Random bug me thinks.

Happen to me also

Yeah it is a random bug that occurs.

I use semi-auto gears. Truck is in drive. Slowing to a complete stop on a completely flat road. Let go of brakes and the truck will accelarate backwards all on its own - no gas applied, still in drive gear has not gone into reverse gear etiher and engine has not stalled.

I now always apply parking break when coming to a complete stop to prevent this "rubber banding" of acceleration.

Oh, yes, I've experienced that bug from time to time. I find that if I just hold the brake another 1/2 second longer and wait for the suspension to push back up before letting it go, then I don't suddenly start moving backwards like that. No need for the Parking Brake. :)

Torque converter bug.

If it were a real Alli 4500 , the fourth clutch would need to be rebuilt/replaced

Happened to me also, but I think it has to do with the controler settings. When the setting Full Automatic is used, and you switch to reverse, you use the forward throttle to move backward, and to brake you use the reverse button.

Just maybe the Simple Automatic works similar in certain situations and trucks. When I hold the brakes too long, this will happen. Sometimes with a series of stop/forward actions it also happens.

But never so far with the Peterbuilt. Only Kenworth, but not the K200.

Yes, with Simple Automatic if you "pump" the brakes you may inadvertantly shift into Reverse since the brake pedal is tied to the transmission in that setup.

With Real Automatic you are using the pedals for their proper functions: accel to move and brake to stop but the shifting done via a shifter or buttons.

So i want to "Eaton Fuller 18-speed Retarder" and it so much better rolling back on a exit ramp and drop down in to d1 and pull the turck and the load up it will out goin in reverse or stalling i was haveing the prob with the "Allison 4500 6-speed Retarder" so if your useing that try Goin to the one i did and see if it works for you like it did me
