Changing computer!!
Hello everyone. I will change my computer soon! Is it possible to bring all the things to my new computer? I don't want to play the whole game from $0 again!! To be honest, this problem also applies to other games I own. Thank you so much!

Copy the folder in Documents called American Truck Simulator to an external USB flash device like an external hard drive, USB stick, even an SD Card would probably work. Then install the game on your new PC and then plug in the flash device to your new PC and just Cut the folder and put it in Documents. The games folder is 371mb so I would reccomend having at least 8gb of space on your stick before moving it.

For other games you should be able to find the name of them although some games may have the publishers name (Example: SCS Software) So if it does it would go like this SCS Software --> American Truck Simulator. This game however does not have this setup so it should be easy.

That means I don't need to copy the ats file from SteamLibrary/steamapps/common ? In my documents folder, I cannot find all of the games I have. Is it mean that it is hopeless to transfer the game progress? Thanks.

No, Cbrady7 is telling you how to move your Profile and save game information for this game. The game files in the Steam directories will be re-installed automatically by Steam on your new machine.

Thanks. How about for other games which I cannot find in the document folder? Thanks!!

If you are going to keep this computer for a little while after your new one I would make a backup of your computer then restore it on the new one.

save it to the steam cloud

How about if I directly put the old HDD to the new one?

Is it free of charge?

Games that have the ability to do so, yes it is free. But ATS and ETS2 don't have Cloud Saving. An example of a game with cloud saving would be Cities: Skylines.

its likely a bad idea; problems on the current computer will continue to effect the new computer. even if we assume there is absolutely no issues (visible or not) on the old computer, drivers will likely be an issue. fresh install on the new computer is the way to go.
not every game stores game saves in the documents folder. you need to figure out what games you need to backup that you cant find, and research on that specific game where it stores the files.

Most likely not a good idea when changing hardware. You want to copy your profile folder (%homepath%\Documents\American Truck Simulator) to the new machine when you get it. You can do this for other games as well. If you want, you can just copy the entire Documents folder to the new machine and many of your game saves will be there.

FYI
There will be no "C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\American Truck Simulator" when you first install the game on the new machine.
Simply start the game and create a new profile. It doesn't matter what details you use. You're going to replace it anyway.
Once that is done, quit the game.
Replace the new "C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\American Truck Simulator" folder with the one you copied from the old computer.
Start the game again and your old profile from the other computer will be ready to go.

You really should copy the entire "C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\American Truck Simulator" folder to a safe place - ie. a 2nd hdd in the computer, or expansion drive, etc - on a regular basis. It's good practice.

I would think as soon as installing it and Copying the ATS folder to Documents before you started up the game and the game created a folder it would pick it up without having to go in and make a profile, would it?

Some games save in their own install folder. Really depend on where you have your games installed. By default games are installed to \Steam\steamapps\common\ Steam is by default located in the Program Files folder IIRC. I've moved it a long time ago so can't remember 100%. You'll have to check info for each game on where they store saves.
