Drive cars?
Can the cars in this game be driven? Say drive from home to work. Or drive a police car.

Yes, mod cars can be driven but that is all you can do in them, drive.

I would suggest you try Test Drive Unlimited. Not sure how good it is in its current implementation, I played one many years ago and it was great for driving around various high-end and exotic cars. I hated racing missions forcing player to break the law though. My favorite mission was delivering vehicles without damage, transporter's job

The Mod cars i have driven are undrivalble. They sure look good and you can trick them out awesome but get on the road and its a supersonic brick being steered with a stick, zero control. Until some developer comes up with one that works, i would say stick to the proven trucks.

The reason the cars don't drive right is because the physics engine is built for trucks, not cars that weigh barely a quarter of what a truck weighs, without a trailer.

I believe there is a car in the Multiplayer mod. Like others said though, it doesn't control well due to the physics engine not being built for a little sedan. That car accelerates too quickly and is too hard to brake. If you want a good driving game, try Driver: San Francisco.

ETS2 got a lot of car mods, ATS should have them too but I'm not sure about it. You can ask about car mods in world of trucks forum, those guys got more patience, and know better about what they're talking about.

There is nothing wrong with question about drivable cars in ATS. Yes, there is no point in having them except for recreational driving, but it is still legit request. Some people might want just exactly this, recreational driving.

That's your opinion. My opinion is that if you want to drive cars, there are better games out there for it. This game isn't designed for cars. The one time I drove a car it handled like a runaway lawnmower.

Well nobody wants to drive a runaway lawn mower. That's for sure. You're right on the opinion aspect. For myself, I have no desire to game hauling cargo or kill cops. FSX gives me a great chance to see places around the world I will never actually see. Same goes for GTA V. I've never been to LA or CA even. But with GTA V I know the area a little bit. I like cruising. I think ATS combined with TrackIR would be great for cruising around and getting a feel for driving around the SW USA. A bike or convertible would be better than being surrounded by a truck cab IMHO.

Well that's not entirely true.
Could have a few perposes one of which i could think of atm is a pilot car for large wide loads.
You can pull a trailer though not a trailer meant for large trucks but you can still pull stuff.

Heck why not throw a pickup into the mix.
You can have a pickup with a 5th wheel hitch and pull a long goose neck trailer with a few cars on it or a flatbed trailer with construction matriels on it to which i might add makes more sense to me as some of the loads i have brought to Buitman, HMS, Sunshine and Plastor'n'Sons seem more appropriate to use a pickup rather than a semi.

I am for adding phyiscs and programming hooks for drivable cars because it will provide new avenue of people to buy map DLC.

If adding drivable vehicles like cars helps increase ATS DLC map or ETS2 sales it not bad idea.

Some buyers want to cruise Arizona DLC map with 63 ford thunderbird and listen to flower power radio and don't care one bit about trucking. If adding drivable vehicles pushes additional sales otherwise lost it worth adding it. I think scs will do it someday because they will need to broaden the product to make ATS map DLC development more sustainable.

If they "Don't care about trucking" they shouldn't have bought ATS :steamfacepalm: They should have bought Mario karts instead !:steammocking:

Idiotic petty response, and closed minded at that. People drive in trucksim to relax and providing ability to have drivable car is smart business move for recreational driving. Open world ATS and ETS2 are easily big enough to provide hours of recreational driving. Sure employee could add physics hooks for drivable vehicles like automobiles sure can do it for the rift.
