Texas is a bit small
Ever heard the phrase everything is bigger in Texas, well not in American Truck Simulator. Their depiction of Fort Worth and Dallas is so far from realistic. I was deeply sadden they shrunk the size of the Great State of Texas which in real life can take up to 24 hours to cross.

Map scale is 1:20 outside of cities. That is true for the whole map.

Not just Texas, but all ATS maps. Considering time is scaled appropriately, you still need about a day to drive from one end to another.

Texas is as the crow flies, 770+ miles across. About 830+ by road. So legally its about 20 hours, by truck. Illegally its a looooong drive still. wouldnt want to cycle it.
Don't you have GTA5, OP? Isn't that weird that you can cross Los Santos in less than 5 minutes, while you can take hours on real Los Angeles?

Texas is just as big as intended. Quite big in other words. Perfect balance.

I don't have Texas, but like others said the whole game world is compacted so it would make sense for cities to be compacted too, and it's true for cities in other states. But what sometimes bugs me is that the distances between landmarks isn't always consistent. But I imagine it's pretty hard to scale down all distances by the same amount.

12 hours by car, 20 by truck? The truck driver should pedal more faster :lunar2019smilingpig:

He said legally, which would include 8 or so hours for sleep.

Run 75mph all the way across it and you can do it legally. Good luck maintaining that speed though.
Staquix Nov 18, 2022 @ 1:26pm
I went from Dallas to El Paso in 8hrs once.... in a 1977 280z with the cruse set at 100 mph. :car:
Back then the speed limit was 65mph so if I would have been caught they would have thrown the book at me.

Don't be jealous because of your inferior geographical location. Most people in Texas are not from Texas so it's never too late. :KTGG:

Nonsense. He made no mention of off time. In that case one would record the time for day one and the time for day two and add them together, and leave the rest time out entirely. Saying "20 hours by truck" implies 20 hours driving time.
