Buy base game or Southwest Bundle?
Should I get the base game or Southwest Bundle?

Southwest Bundle is rather costly and there's no intermediate bundles.
On the other hand if I don't buy it and I end up liking it, then it will be costlier to add it on.

I gotta decide pronto before the sale is over!

Edit: Bought the base game and liked it! I think I will buy the Southwest Bundle now (unless there's anything I should know about).

southwest bundle
You buy the base game, try it and then buy the bundle if you like it. Steam will sell the bundle minus the base game and only charge the difference.

Wait so are the addons unlockable from the base game? If so then that's the way I prefer (because buying addons to unlock them early kinda feels like cheating to me).
Listen... you can buy the bundle after buying just the base game. Steam will only charge the difference.

To sum up elements kinda spam

The cosmetic DLC (like paint packs) require you to have played the game enough to buy your own truck. This does not take too long, but also requires you to have levelled up in game enough to apply the paints. There is no way to unlock the paints without buying the DLC, but you must unlock the paints in game once you buy the DLC. This is not difficult to do.

I would get the bundle, but you can always start with the base game now, and try it out. If you like it, you can get the bundle, and you will only buy the items in the bundle that you do not already own. It will not cost you much more, as the bundle discount is still applied to the items you havent bought yet. If you miss this sale, there are likely more coming soon, especially with the holidays around the corner.

I think it's important to find a working configuration to properly decide if you would like this game or not. If you find a setup that won't throw your truck into a guard rail or other cars at every corner, then you are ready to make the decision.

Just a tidbit but technically you do unlock DLC customization parts, that has level requirements, even without buying the DLCs. There's a menu that shows you parts you unlock with each player levels. That's how the game got me to buy Special Transport DLC in ETS2 as I saw I unlocked a cool beacon but seemingly I can't see it anywhere in the game.
Buying DLC then let you use them.

I just bought the base game and I liked it. I think I will buy the Southwest Bundle now.

Unless anyone has any suggestions or things I should know about?

Thanks!

Buy all of the map packs, since they're all on sale. Square off the map.

You can't do much without the BASE game, that's why they call it the base game. lol

What can't you do with it?

He means the base game alone or the Southwest Bundle (which includes the base game in it). ;)

I'm beginning to see that Southwest Bundle is just a convenience wrapper and offers no additional discounts.

So may be I'll buy those individually so I can pick and choose.

I'm thinking -

New Mexico - Because it's 70% off and has good reviews
Colorado - 50% off and has very good reviews

I may have room for one more. Is there any other DLC I should get? Are the paints etc. worth it, or should I experience what's in the original game first?

^ Oregon is very different when comparing to New Mexico, Colorado & Arizona (free expansion), so that might be good choice. Don't take Washington now, you cannot deliver cargo from Washington to other states if you don't have Oregon or Idaho. If you like Oregon (maybe more than others), Washington is similar.
Just buy all the states when you can if Just for the ability to travel through the state.

Thanks! Is there any of those states (New Mexico, Oregon, Colorado) where it rains a lot? I love rain, would love to have states which are natural rain magnets.
