Kenworth uses DAF cabines?
So before I start, I just wanted to say in advance that I know this has nothing to do with the game, and I would post it in the off topic thread if there was one, but I thought this would be the best place to discuss it.

So anyways, we were at a drive through in my town (which is in Virginia) When I saw a box van that looked a lot like a DAF. I was thinking "Whats that doing in the states?", when I realised that it had a Kenworth logo on the front. Now we were stopped a long time, long enough for me to take in the details. It had the grille of a DAF, the fog lights of a DAF, it even had the mirror setup of a DAF. I guess it kinda made sense to me, since they are both Paccar companies, but it was still a little confusing.

After a little more reaearch, I found that the truck I saw was a K370, the only cabover currently sold by Kenworth. But after looking on the DAF site, I found that the DAF CF Euro 6 looks pretty mutch 100% exactly like the K370.

I thought it would be pretty neat to see what I could learn from a discussion about this, and possibly what I could teach other people, so discuss away!

When ATS came out, I had a look at the US PACCAR site. And I remember seeing these DAF CF rigids available as a Kenworth or Peterbilt, and I too thought it was interesting.

I could see the European companies who own American brands do this more often in the future. There's already a Freightliner Sprinter (rebadged Mercedes van) available over there, but I wouldn't be surprised if Daimler introduces something like a "Freightliner Antos" to the US market.

So DAF owns Kenworth, or dose Kenworth own DAF? Or are they both owned by Paccar?

Renault bought Mack way back in the 90s.

It would make since to import the DAF for the box truck market as cab over box trucks are so common here. I suppose PACCAR puts the Kenworth name on them as very few probably know about the DAF brand here in North America.

Well, I only mentioned it to illustrate how long some truck manufacturers get acquired and still appear under their old name. I don't what happened to Mack after that or when.

I only know this because Renault used to be my favourite truck in ETS2 but it is owned by Volvo.

1956: Mack Trucks, Inc., buys Brockway Motor Company. (Brockway ceases in 1977)
1990: Mack Trucks becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault Véhicules Industriels when remaining publicly traded shares acquired at $6.25 per share.
2001: Mack together with Renault Véhicules Industriels becomes part of Volvo AB of Sweden, the parent company Renault S. A. receives a 20% stake in the combined company. (In 2002 Renault Véhicules Industriels changes its name to Renault Trucks.)
