Track IR or Triple Monitor
I recently bought a wheel and shifter for my PC and would like to further upgrade my PC gaming setup. I still need to do more research but I was wondering witch would be better, a Track IR or a Triple monitor setup.

hi, i have used both, on triple monitors i get wacky FPS drops on ATS (tried all sorts but i dont get it on ETS2 or other games), i have gone back to my 52" TV with a delanclip (like track ir) but i will probably try triples again in the next update and see if its any better

EDIT:

i use 3 x 27" monitors, gtx 970 SLI, i7-4790k @ 4.5ghz, 16GB ram. trying to get the FOV right in the config file is A COMPLETE BALLACHE so be warned of quite abit of time fiddling with the settings

I don't have a 10/10 PC so the fps was one thing I was worried about.

I have 3 x 27" Asus monitor running off an nVidia GTX 980 4 gig, with an i7 and 16 gig of ram, PC is no slouch, but, struggles to render all three screens in some cities..

I often turn of the 3 screen surround and just use the middle one..

I think your better going for a track IR

Both, its a very good combo. The game doesnt run real well at 5760x1080 but is playable. If you dont have a beefy PC then stick with 1920x1080 single with TiR. This software brings my 5820k/32gigs ddr4/gtx1070 8gb to its knees. Unlike every other title Ive played recently.

Ive come to the conclusion something is broken in multimonitor mode 2. AA doesnt work at all on the center monitor but works ok on both flanking monitors. Ive finally just stopped using AA altogether and instead use 200% scaling.

In my opinion TrackIR, if you have at least a 32" monitor and sitting 1-2 feet from it. For 3 monitors I think you'd still need to move the view for the rear view through the window. With TrackIR you'll get additional x-y-z in-cabin movement (additionally to rotations) which is sometimes useful, too.

I have a single 2560x1440 32", and TrackIR is surely better solution than getting 7680 pixels horizontal.

Not if you use the correct FOv then use the seat adj to tweak that so you can see part of the guages. I found that low 40's fov works pretty good on a triple. Everything is the correct size and the perception of speed is far superior. 50 mph shouldnt feel like youre doing 300. TIR with triples is a great solution if you can pull it off with your PC. Almost as good as occulus rift (on a title that supports vr anyway). 5760 is difficult to pull off Id imagine 7680 is nearly impossible if you like smoothness. Most ppl dont have 1440p triples anyway. Too much cash.

I'm using three 27" (cheap-o AOC) monitors and the only thing I could call a problem is the FPS. I had to turn graphics down but it still looks good at 35/45 fps. I use a 690GTX card and an i7 2800k PC system. I mainly drive from cab (99% of time) as that's what I did for many years in real life, going forward or backwards, I'm retired now so it's all good from my viewpoint.

NOTE: I had more expensive monitors but these cheap-o ones actually look better and have better specs, I think I paid $170ea for them on sale.

I use TRACKIR5.... 3 x hp 26 inch monitors and GTX980 TI with 64 Gigs ram. 2 web cams all running, I HAVE NO PROBS AT ALL, IN CASE YOU THINK i AM LYIING I am on the tube

I have "no problems" now but I dont consider 40-60 fps acceptable on high end hardware in 2016. If you do fine. I cant even run full vsynch because I cant maintain 60fps in the big cities. I have to run adaptive vsynch for this very reeason. LIke I said, in 2016 that is pretty sad.

Track IR is better investment and hdtv 4K monitor. You are playing truck simulator not racing or shooting game don't need constant 60fps all the time getting 30fps to 50fps is acceptable. It depends on products you play with flight simulators jaggys are far worse to me than shutters. Trade off buy cheap get lower resolutions and less fps, but your wallet is heavier. What works for one user does not work for another.

I bought TrackIr 4 for $80 on Amazon a while ago. I was debating the same thing... three monitors again or no. So glad I went with TrackIr, completely new experience, very much like actually driving, move your head a little to look side to side (it's all customizable how fast and far the motion is) before you pull out into traffic, etc. So much cheaper, uses very little resources and no configuration at all. Start the software and run the game. Literally that easy.

In the new track ir u can get just the track ir 5 or u can get it with a "track clip" that goes on a headset now I don't wear a headset (got a pretty badass 5:1 sound system) so do I need the head set thing or do I just use the monitor. Also do I need to wear anything on my head with the track ir?

I use the hat clip and it clips on any baseball cap. it is convenient and is no problem at all. I also have a 32 inch curved monitor and run it at 1920 x 1080 and it is wonderful.

Soon I hope to get a gaming computer and that will have the new 1080 Graphics card, I have no intention of getting a bigger monitor because it works very well as it is. Perhaps when they release a 36 inch monitor I might be tempted but the 32 inch is fine.

I had thought about triple monitor until I got the TrackIr 5 but now I have that I have no intention of getting a triple monitor.

No changes, just correcting a typo.

The TrackIR requires that you wear either the reflective hat clip or the IR Track Clip Pro. The hat clip works fine for most folks. Since truckers wear hats, it's a natural.

A TrackIR trumps triple screen, but I know a number of people that use both.

Well thanks for all the feed back. I think I have made up my mind. I'm going with the track ir!
