Now, when I can since I know I can actually do it after building this prototype, will start the creation of something a little nicer to look at. I will be adding actual working speedometer and tach alsol. It is simple wiring and the Joy to key program takes care of the programming of the buttons to use it in game. I enjoy this kind of stuff, but if you don't, or just don't have the time, you may want to purchase yours. You can save a bit of money and make it exactly how you want if you diy it....:)
I have the FLT1 button box from DSD. For me it works perfect. I paid $99 for it several years ago. Still holding up quite well.
At the time I bought my button box the only real other player in the game was ASP with a 6 month or more wait at a cost of $250. No thank you. I had mine in just over a week and one half. USPS tracking was provided upon shipping.
Once it goes out I will probably be getting one from Sim Panel.
..Just a Heads up, while DIY CAN be less costly, in my experience of going the DIY route because no pre-fab box had the functionality I wanted, DIY is not less-costly ..in fact, I could have bought 2 pre-built button boxes for what I will have invested in my DIY box when it is all said and done.
The absolute least costly way to get a "button box" is to purchase a $10 add-on USB Number Pad, and assign the 11-17 keys to the most used functions ..especially useful for those using a keyboard with no built-in number pad.
I love my DSD P1, best $100 I’ve spent on my sim rig, yes you might be able to build one yourself, but it will not look as good as a DSD.
The Farm Sim Side Panel is fantastic to use in ATS and ETS2 and many other driving games. As mentioned below, the joy stick doesn't get in the way at all and can be used for different functions. You can purchase another button box but why bother when you already have a fantastic one already. Plenty of buttons, more than you could ever need, simple to attach/detach to/from a desk and looks good to boot.
I use the joy stick on Farming sim side panel for the handbrake as well but I also use it for attach trailer. Up for attach trailer and down for handbrake. I use the roller button for radio volume up and down. I wasn't aware that you could also press it in so thank you for mentioning that.
The Farming Sim Side Panel is an excellent addition to many driving games and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a button box for ATS/ETS2, Fernbus etc.
