installing mods

up until now i have only ever installed mods from the steam workshop however i want to download the Alaskan map mod but all the tutorials on YouTube tell me to save the extracted files to my mod folder well i haven't got a mod folder so do i have to create a mod folder and if so where do i put this folder?

you should have a mod folder in there.
if not just make a folder called mod and put it in there.

Te game's player files, on default install under Windows, would be located:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\American Truck Simulator\

...and if you do not have a sub-directory there called "mod" you can create it; that is where manually added mod files get placed.
