Different trailers can have different under-carriage heights. Different trucks have slightly different fifth wheel heights, etc. So adjusting rear suspension allows to get the fifth wheel under the trailer's floor to attach the trailer without 'damage'.
Yep
It might not matter much, but.... I slam it low when cruisin' the highway in my Cascadia pulling dry vans. And i lift it up when hitting those bumpy as hell construction roads.
W for front up
S for front down
E for back up
D for back down
IRL truckers in the US deflate their air cushions to have easy accesablity to the saddle lock when linking up afaik. At least that's what I've seen som trucker do on youtube. :P

There's only one "default" combination in ETS2 that has, or had issues, dont know if that bug was fixed over the years, where it could be useful.
If a situation ever occured i would probably use the "teleport" function to connect a trailer because otherwise it's just guess work to raise or lower to the correct height.
My new keyboard does not have numpad area.
I am glad they added that to the game though, now my truck can get under some trailers.
Page Down= "lower rear suspension" aka dump the rear bags.
