DLSS & Ray Tracing
Honestly i would freaking love to see these 2 come to the game including reflex for Nvidia owners. This game is beautiful but it could be so much more with DX12 I know i know this probably means a new engine or something but i feel it needs to be done to get rid of the Artifacts an Aliasing issues It also would be super beneficial to see FX aswell added for AMD users. Personally i think its a must an needs to be done specially since FX an RT is about to be in its 3rd gen stage.

Here is the best part...a new game engine is not needed. The old sound system was removed and replaced with FMOD. The old lighting system was removed and updated with 1.40. New graphic items have not been introduced because they are in deed working on DX12. There is no point in updating things for DX11 when they would need to redone in DX12.

Here is a short timeline that I can provide on things that have been mentioned about graphic improvements:

November 2020 - Because of a delay for Iberia and of course the start of Covid Pavel Sebor (SCS CEO) addressed the community in a blog post. In this blog he mentioned "Reaching the new stable point of version 1.40 will allow the art department to pursue their vision of a fully PBR-enabled pipeline in the future, so the visual quality should and will keep on improving further."

June 2021 - During the ETS2 DAF XG/XG+ release stream on Twitch from SCS Pavel mentioned that DX12 is being worked on.

December 2021 - During the Christmas stream which gives a general idea of what SCS is working on Pavel didn't mention DX12 specifically but what he did say can give us hope. He mentioned that there will be performance improvements along with fixing the anti aliasing.

By that last sentence one can pretty much guess that he is referring to DX12, multicore CPU support(right now it is single core) and perhaps TAA/TXAA. DLSS 2.0/AMD FSR support could come but I am not counting on it. Though he did mention about a new way to render the game too. So anything is possible.

DX12 alone is not going to be a big game changer. What is going to be the game changer is what they can do if they invest the time with it. Right now one of the biggest hindrances is the game is single core. Multi core support is needed.

AA in the game is pretty bad. SSAO is a frame rate killer. SMAA and the small LOD circle is somewhat of a joke.

Majority of the hardware made in the last 5-7 years is already capable of DX12.

ETA: Post from Max on the SCS Forums that confirms the above: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=1737223#p1737223

it has ben stated more times that we are working on graphic changes.
it is just hell lot of work. for the same reason no bigger visible changes happened in last updates/years. it would be waste of time to make it for old system.

We very likely won't see Raytracing anytime soon. It requires DX12.2 (aka DX12 Ultimate) for which only GPUs from the RTX-20 Series and higher support. A lot of people are on the GTX-10 Series or the GTX-16 Series which only support up to DX12.1.
Not to mention that the huge majority of games is not supporting any kind of Raytracing currently.

Don’t even think that game engine could ever support that. They uses their own game engine. If they do a New Game and uses UE5 then they can uses everything it has to offer. This game still uses old engine they trying to update it but they still want to support low end hardware from early 2000s. If they want to improve the game they have to bump up the minimum specs.

This is exactly why they can update and upgrade their engine. They are currently doing so. A new game engine is not needed. Please see the first post. SCS can remove and add things that they want. You don't need UE5.

I really wish people would stop saying that ATS/ETS2 needs to be on UnReal Engine. It is not going to make the game any better. UE5 is not the greatest thing since sliced bread. $1500 per person, per year I believe for the license and the backend on it is extremely sloppy.

That is a strength, not a weakness. Fixed your quote :lunar2019smilingpig:

Well the only reason for this post is attention because if you havent looked at the market lately GPUs are tanking an coming back to MSRP even used or unopen sales are at an all time low because they finally are at somewhat of a balance with sales to ownership. Since the 3060ti is so cheap there is no reason not to upgrade at this point same with AMD. I recently went from a 6700xt i purchased during schalper season for $900 from a actual store lol now its worth 400, nabbed a 3080TI FE for msrp Now is the time for them to bring on even more graphical work. Yes we all want maps an new looks while we drive but AA is such a downer an sometimes shadows just dont seem to really show changes as much as they would IRL. With Ray Tracing DLSS Reflex and also FX for AMD not only will FPS become more stable but it will allow for less AA issues an make the render slider more useful rather than feeling it doesnt do anything past 150%. Also this would open up more physics options on both ends where Dirt could actually be added an accumulate obviously it would need code an added to the engine but it wouldnt throw a huge demand on GPU Cost an also would allow for a bit more realistic features that could be added later in the future like rain actually showing on the interior if your windows are down. Idk were heading into a 3rd generation of next level graphics an to me its the crisp clean smooth operations that make the game even more immersive. Also could eliminate small mods we just should even need like lighting for headlights or realistic beacons. All things that should be directly added to the game rather than using more resources to operate an not to mention take up HDD space. Overall its needed sooner than later. An Also im pretty sure more people are atleast in the 1 gens more so than a 10 series or older AMD. A 3080 ti vs a 6800xt isnt much different other than maybe a slight differ in cost. But realistically a 3080 ti is practically a 3090 with only about a 5% loss in some areas an also the absurd difference in Vram. All im trying to point out is if a free to play game can have why not a game like this specially a sim.

The game engine can support it. It is written in C++ (source: https://www.scssoft.com/technology) so it is absolutely possible. Please also keep in mind that Unreal Engine is technically older than Prism3D. The age of a game engine says nothing about its possible capabilities. What matters is whether it gets updated or not. And that is the case for both.

Just because UE5 looks shiny doesn't mean that it works even remotely as well as the current engine.

Don't you think that if the engine is literally called Unreal Engine FIVE, it's because it's also old but improved? Prism 3D is also improved, they just didn't care about numbering it.

And to be honest, everyone asking for ray-tracing, please name ONE game with it properly implemented.
