Exhaust smoke
You should have an option to not run a truck with a DPF on it so you can see a diesel run like it's supposed to and blow smoke out when you are pulling heavy loads. Especially on the older model trucks none of them had that crap on them. Hopefully I can find a good mod to fix this nonsense.

There are no mods like you describe the ones available show smoke all the time no matter if pulling or idling. Not very realistic.

A diesel engine that blows black smoke, or "Rolls Coal" is a diesel engine that is getting too much fuel, and not enough air ... Contrary to "popular belief" (thanks to youtube) a diesel engine should NOT smoke excessively if it is running properly. Your pickup truck that looks like an RC toy, or a skateboard, is not the same as a big rig that literally has to run for days on end, to MAKE MONEY ... wasting fuel to "Roll Coal" is losing money out the exhaust stack.

Trucks that have constant exhaust smoke are not allowed to drive on the road. If a truck does that it either has a serious engine problem or their engine has been tempered with.

And no engine ever is supposed to give off smoke. That is just a sign that you aren't burning the fuel completely which is lowering the already horrible efficiency of 45% (aka not even half the fuel you are burning is being used for what you want it to be used).

I have the diesel smoke MOD on my {old/owned} 379 for nostalgia as it is basically useless in the game from inside the truck. In the modern age its a fine or it can tell you something is wrong {blue, burning oil, white, head gasket, black fuel problem}

New trucks don't smoke.

According to today's legislation it is supposed not to smoke at all. So everything is correct in the game. As visible smoke is not a thing it is not available. There are mods for it, but due to the missing smoke physics they will just add an external accessory part with smoke as animated, partially transparent texture. These will contantly smoke, no matter if the engine is in idle or full throttle. Some even when the engine is off, others are linked to switchable functions like headlights or beacons so they at least can be turned off when parked.

Not gonna happen because of licensing issues, these are real truck manufacturers in game and it would be a bad reputation seeing thier trucks smoke

And SCS has simply not left a "hook" available to modders to allow anything even a bit like realistic smoke, as if it was possible, modders would be all over it.

I see pretty much all the trucks in game driving down the highway every day. I rarely, rarely, see any of them belch smoke. Those that do are probably older models that will likely be phased out very soon.

Yep 2030 everything made will 100% be electric, it will be illegal to drive gas cars soon

We will see. I think that goal is unrealistic the way things stand now, both logistically and politically.

Constant black smoke isn't good for the engine. I don't want that. I want it to work like a diesel should. When you're pulling heavy loads, accelerating and changing gears a little black smoke is completely normal. A diesel engine runs better by blowing it out of the exhaust instead of feeding that crap back into the engine. I have all my diesels deleted in real life for that very reason.

That I highly doubt. Chances are it will just be like in the EU where cars with ICEs won't be produced after a certain year but you can still drive them as long as you want. It is just the usual phase out.

it should be though because of climate change, its gas cars that are doing the most damage to it
