SCS VNL i-Shift Woes?

Love the new SCS VNL. I also have Ardeth's excellent VNL and notice that the i-Shift transmission really is slick. It skips gears as the real unit would do. For Ardeth, I'm using the combo D13 455VE/1750XE with the i-Shift ATO3512DR, 3.40 diff.

For the VNL, I'm using the D16 500V-1850 and i-Shift AT2612F with 2.8 rear. Does the SCS VNL truck not allow the iShift to skip gears? It will start off in say 4 with no trailer. But then it will go through geard 5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 in rapid sequence whereas the Ardeth iShift would skip from 4 to 7 or 8. Anyone else notice this? Is it a configuration issue?

You're using a *much* taller differential in the vanilla truck which is going to have an impact on transmission behavior.

Also, the vanilla truck doesn't *have* an AT2612F -.-

The scs VNL with i-shift and skipping gears is working fine for me. Sounds like it'll be a volvo related mod causing the issue.

I'm currently using the D13 475 HP with ishift ATO3112DR. I suspect the issue is you're using a transmission from the mod rather than a default one with the scs vnl.

Are you by chance using Ardeth's VNL 760 as well? I see this has it's own mods which add engine and transmissions to the game. Do I need to remove the VNL 760 mod to get the SCS VNL engines and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to work together to allow normal i-shift gear skipping like I have in the Ardeth model?

I think Fury6 explained it above, that its a question of differential ratio causing the difference.

In theory; as long as you use a default scs engine and transmission, they should co-exist fine together. That's not to say conflicts can't occur. If you're unsure which engine/transmission is from the mod, I would temporarily disable the ardeth mod. Check your scs volvo engine/transmisson or sell and buy a new one. The ishift should be working normally, after that re-enable the ardeth and test again. If the scs volvo doesn't skip gears, there's likely a conflict. You'll need to choose one or the other. To answer your question; I have not used the ardeth in a long time, I only use the stock scs volvo.

Thanks MosGuy. I’ve found as you stated a conflict but with the Volvo Driveline Mod. I removed it, bought a new stock VNL 780 and now I can choose the correct engine and transmission combos. I notice now tha5 I have the “A” next to the transmission gear number whereas before it only displayed the number. It’s still not skipping gears so I’ll test by removing the Ardeth temporarily as you’ve described to see if that sorts things. Thanks for the tips!

I've now tried both - Eliminated the Ardeth VNL, eliminated the VNL Driveline mod and still the same results. No skipping gears. It's like the transmission "E/P" switch is set for "P" which hits every gear. I'm at a loss for what to do. Basically, just trying to get the 455 HP Eco-Torque Performance setup with 2.64 or 2.84 rears. What is the right combo for this with the DEFAULT setup? Does the Driveline Mod mess all this up? Confused as the Ardeth just does what it should.

Probably, as explained above, with that really low ratio rear end each gear change is a large step, so it does not skip gears, which would create huge steps. Just as a test try it with a much higher ratio rear and see if it does not skip some gears

Alternatively make a new profile to test; mods can cause issues with default trucks. The only volvo mods I use with the stock vnl are Kriechbaums D13 engine and Pivas dashboard display. If you can't get it working, I would just stick with the ardeth model. Tho it still sounds like you are choosing an engine/transmission from a mod.

Thanks, MosGuy. I've removed ALL volvo mods so I only have the default VNL 780. I'm using the D13 475 and the iShift AT2812DR with 2.79 rears. I've tried the ATO3112D R with 3.25 axel but same results. Really stumped.
