Should be fully recognised. My G29 will occasionally, but rarely, just stop appearing in LGS.
The correct order of operations, from Logitech's own web site:
With Computer already ON, but Logitech Gaming Software NOT running,
1. Connect all wheel/pedal/shifter components to each other.
2. Plug power for wheel/pedals/shifter in to wall outlet or power strip.
3. Start the Logitech Gaming Software, and give a second for it to fully load.
4. plug-in wheel's USB cord to Computer, and let LGS recognize the wheel/pedals/shifter.
...LGS will calibrate the wheel's left and right turn, and put wheel at center position.
5. set LGS settings to "Default" settings. (first time setup only, after first setup, you can ignore this.)
..Now that the Computer and LGS recognize the wheel/pedals/shifter, you can log in to Steam and start the ATS/ETS2 game, and set your preferences in-game settings menu.
Plugging the wheel into the computer BEFORE starting LGS can cause issues.

I suspect I will replace my G27 wheel with the new HORI truck control system next year -- if the HORI wheel gets decent reviews.
Tank you so much, how the ♥♥♥♥ is that possible
Ironically Linux often handles non-gamepad device support better, the issue there is customization since you need 3rd party control panels.
