Western Star - 57X vs 49X

Debating on which one to work towards next. Which do you prefer?

I took the 57X on an extended test drive from Montana to Oregon and back to Utah. It did well with the mountain roads in Idaho, and cruised along nicely on the freeways. The full digital dash is cool, the flashing signal indicator on the mirrors is a nice touch. At the end of the day, it’s a tougher looking Cascadia.

The 49X I like for its more rugged, old school look. I have one as a day cab and I intend to finish speccing it out to be a heavy haul/logging road beast.

My favourite remains the T680, which has been my main truck since release. The Anthem and Cascadia both had their turns but I keep coming back to the T680, not least of all because it has the best mirror placement IMHO.

I prefer short hoods, not only for maneuverability but also for looks, so a clear 49x from me. Beside the 49x and Western Star brand in general I mostly drive International LoneStar and from time to time Peterbilt 579.

I also prefer the 49X out of those two. It is actually my current main truck as well. I like the styling and the dash layout works for me. It is also one of the trucks that works well with mirror placement for triple screens, so I can looks without moving the camera.

I found a mod that let's you use the 57x in ETS2. With the 4x2 axle setup and day cab the truck is no bigger than a Euro truck. For me it makes ETS2 much more fun. 🙂

The 57x is basically the Cascadia. I have 2 49x day cabs because I love them so much.

I prefer the 49X with the long hood look. I made it almost identical to a 57X but with the nice rugged look of the 49X. What I don't like with the 57X is that it's a rebadged Cascadia.

I strongly suggest adding a sound mod for more fun too!

Sssshhhh - I tell you a secret now. The 49x is either. They all three use the Cascadia cab shell, drivetrains and probably frame. Also the 49x dashboard is the analogue one from the "old New Cascadia" before the facelift.
