What's the scale like in this game? How does it compare with Euro Truck Sim 2, or maybe The Crew (not the second one)?

Scale is 1:20 on highways, 1:3 in cities.
AFAIK.

Wow. I didn't expect to get ratios like that. Awesome! Thanks!

ETS 2 is about the same, 1:19 Highway, 1:3 in cities.

And 1:15 in the UK
If my memory isn't failing, even on ATS the scale out of the cities is actually 1:19. We say it's 1:20 to simplify things, and as it doesn't make much difference on time-space calculations. But it's interesting that the map is actually BIGGER than advertised.

By the way, I don't think we can even compare to The Crew, as some states are even non-existent on it. It's only noticeable they chose only some cities to be really bigger, and the rest was simplified to a 10-block town.

EDIT: Just out of curiosity see https://i.redd.it/89sngf62ztj51.png and https://i.redd.it/kb5ont37gi771.png

No, it is actually 1:20 outside of cities. IIRC, according to a dev when they rescaled the map they were thinking about different map scales with 1:10 being too big while 1:30 being too small so they went with the middle and took 1:20 as a map scale which is nearly the same as ETS2 with its 1:19 map scale.

Then my memory is indeed failing. I need to play around the map editor again. 😅

Now I can't say for sure, but in my memory ATS was even smaller before rescale - I could swear it was 1:35.

Yes, it was 1:35 before the rescale.

Edit: Currently trying to find the exact dev statement from that, hope that I find it again.
Edit2: Couldn't find it after 30 minutes, giving up. (There are a ton of posts on the SCS Forum mentioning "scale", "map" and "rescale". And I sadly can not filter to only see posts from SCS devs.)

It's in the Events & Announcements sub-forum. :)

As an additional information, on the rescale they also changed the map projection from Mercator to Lambert. It doesn't seem to affect scale at first... until you get closer to north pole.
