In the Controls section:
Shifter toggle 1 - Range
Shifter toggle 2 - splitter
Truck transmissions are different from cars. A 18 speed transmission is in a way 8 speeds, with a twist. the 4 first speed are the low range, and the 6 thru 8 are the high range. In the low range, you also have a speed that is called "Low" under the first gear.
Then the high range are 4 speed. 4 thru 8, the low position doesnt have an equivalent on the high range.
Now on an 18 speed, each of these speed can be split into two with the splitter toggle. You have high and low on each stick position.
The total of which, make 18 speed. LL, LH, 1L, 1H, 2L, 2H, 3L, 3H, 4L, 4H, 5L, 5H, 6L, 6H, 7L, 7H, 8L, 8H.
The typical shifter pattern is:
R 1 3
L 2 4
R 5 7
- 6 8
A 13 speed has the same pattern, but the lower range cannot split
so you get : L 1 2 3 4, 5L 5H, 6L 6H, 7L 7H, 8L 8H.
A 10 speed is different a bit. Neither range can split, and the upper range has an extra speed.
R 2 4
1 3 5
R 7 9
6 8 10
You need to make sure you're using the correct gear layout for your gearbox. If you're running Quick Jobs that means you need to check the gearbox in use and change the layout selection to suit if necessary ('Options->Controls' - toward the bottom of the page)... If your shifter is going to a gear you don't expect, then chances are you have the wrong layout file selected for the gearbox you're using (or you're possibly not using the shifter correctly, of course).
Modern (even 18 speed) air shifters IRL only have 6 slots (if your shifter is set up correctly your 7th & Reverse slots are redundant and can be used as extra buttons for other functions - I use my Reverse slot for trailer hitch & wheel lift functions, for example).
